He was contracted until the end of this year. Signed an extension in Oct 2021 (I'm guessing before the concussion). Might as well get the best out of the system while he was still technically in it.
Fair point. Didn’t we delist and redraft a player who had something similar so we could manage the medical side of things about 10 years ago?

I did not last long before the tears flowed watching this, absolutely love the Seed and genuinely going to miss him play. I do love how he could still crack a joke amongst the sadness!
Not the way one of our best players of recent should bow out. After a great season and to be concussed like that. Hope he has a full recovery and no ongoing symptoms. He said he still suffers 18 months on.

Sad end to one of my favourite players at the club.

Such a beautiful long kick, including for goal & his last year was his best of his career & consistent throughout.

Wishing him all the best for the future & hope his health improves, particularly reduced headaches.

That was hard to listen to..

terrible end to his career.. I just hope that he will eventually fully recover. that is all that matters now.

hope his comments about Matty Crouch have an impact on those in charge at the club.. give them plenty of food for thought.

sounds like he’s the exact type of bloke you want to keep around.

Such a quality person and highly respected club man...lets hope he recovers sufficiently to lead a happy and
fullfilling life. If and when hes ready it would be great for the club to offer him a role in some capacity.

We knew this was coming, but now that he’s officially announced the retirement, it’s hit harder than I thought it would’ve

No person, let alone AFL player, deserves to go through this

Still has symptoms every day :(

gee he speaks so well, a really impressive young man. I hope he can get his health right and some normality in his life. It’s sad how badly he’s been effected.

Respect to the crows on how they have handled this, it seems like the support will be ongoing which is fantastic.

Get well seeds.

Sad he wasn't at Port who are clearly the world leaders in concussion management. Would have added another 44 games to his career tally.

It's hard to imagine what he must be going through, without having gone through it, or something like that, yourself. If we're pain free and healthy physically and mentally we take it for granted, until we hear stories or meet people like Seedsman. It is completely unfair that something like this has happened to him and his wife.

Fingers crossed he can get back to full health or at worse manage it to the point he is content.

It's nice to hear the club support him, Crouch and Tex being good blokes and O'Brien, with his background in medicine, caring for a team mate like he has. Hopefully the AFL is there to support him and his family in the short and long term.

He had a brilliant season in 2021. May he be well enough to enjoy his time as a father to young children, get well, and come back and help out at the Crows in the not too distant future.

He sued us anyway didn't he?
Not sure how it all works, but sometimes you have to do the legal things just to get the insurance through? May not be anything sinister?

There will forever be concussions in contact sport. I can't see anything more the AFL can do to prevent them happening. I'm not sure how much more can be done to help those effected during and after they finish playing, but I'm sure there is always more that could be done.

Reading the family statement from Nick Lowden's family after his death and Paul Seedsman's press conference brings home just how serious it is. What support is there for footballers not in the AFL system? Any one really. It can be a tough world out there.
