2004 I think? From memory we trailed by 40 at half time, beat the Power, then a week later trailed by 40 at three quarter time against the Swans and beat them. I miss the Shinboner spirit.

The Port one was definitely 2005. I know because I moved back to melbourne a week later, or thereabouts. I think the one you're thinking of is the Sydney game, Archers game. That was in 2004. Back in the days when North were actually a tough side.

'Get better at tevery aspect'....blah blah blah.

Watching the Pies V Cats game last night the difference is that their middlefield can come out and kick goals.

Our top 5-6 havent got the killer edge to nail goals.

Sit down and watch the quality teams. They aint sitting back waiting for Cloke or Pods to kick a bag...aka Petrie.

...and this attitude is why Geelong was so shi* for so long...everyone in that town pattin them on the back...'great GF loss again boys' blah blah blah...

Toughen up, they get paid to perform as professionals. Kick straight 30 metres out or get dropped.

I fork out the $$ for membership and $100 for a 4 hr round trip or $700 Foxtel rip-off fee to see the rubbish footy like these last two weeks.

I deserve to feel ripped off.

If B Scott thinks its crap to give up like we did today in those 10 mins, I have every right to biatch about it here.

Spent today doing nice things to celebrate my partner's birthday. Checked the score a couple of times, felt sick when I saw we'd lost, then went to my six year old's prep disco with a glass of wine in my hand and danced my cares away.

I find it as hard as most to keep perspective on a bad loss - and obviously it's easier because today I skipped experiencing the game - but am getting better at keeping perspective on footy in my life and can highly recommend it. Funky's thread helped too.

You are right, there is no problem. 32 points in front in the last quarter and you lose.

No problem whatsoever just part of a learning curve.

Yeah, shockingly devastating loss. No doubt.

For an inexperienced team, though, it IS part of learning. Not saying it's not a problem of course, nor accepting this as some sort of standard, but I hardly think this team is at the peak of its powers.

Just a flesh wound.

You're a loony!

But seriously, that's more like it! Always looking on the bright side of life... :p

Yeah this thread is about 3 days too early.

Not interested in listening to the head in sand types and the 'taking it in their stride' types. F*** that shit. That's about as much passion as the boys showed in that last quarter.

This is like telling someone not to grieve when their dog dies.

Sorry, Kimbo but you should have waited until Monday.

You're right Mr. R, better I don the sack cloth, pour ashes over my head and wail that god is unfair. :thumbsu: ;)

Nah, I reckon I've earned the right to suggest whatever I want around here. God knows everyone else claims it.

Good for you yotr. Hear from you Tuesday-ish when you're demonstrating less passion like us 'take in our stride' types. ;)

Great post OP.

I cannot believe the hysteria on here sometimes.

Firstly, there are many MANY things in life more important than football. I am sure that even and especially most of the players realise this.

Sure, it was disappointing, but that's football. It's a sport that ultimately ends badly for ALL teams bar one at the end of the season. That's how it is, but we keep coming back.

Now I'm off to go watch the Dreamtime game and cheer for the Tiges.

Next week, I'll be supporting North, the same as I always do and have since 1976.

Thanks a lot Deepak Chopra , i feel so silly for getting upset my team lost to a crap side . Im off to my quiet place for a herbal tea and some meditation .

It's a game of football. Perspective. We all look like idiots doing this.

We live together, or we all die alone.

We nearly lost this club 4 and a half years ago, and all you clowns jumping and up down like idiots with solve nothing.

Calculated, rational thought will prevail.

Melbourne and Richmond exercise in melting down. Where has it got them?

Nowhere.

I think someone needs a nice hot cup of camomile tea and a back rub.

You certainly have Kimbo. And your chilled out contributions are going to help a lot of people get some sleep tonight.

Peace, brother.:). We live to fight another day.

So everyones allowed to go into hysterics immediately following a loss, but Kimbo HAS TO (not should, its actually worse than killing someones dog to post it today!) wait til monday to provide some perspective and try and calm down some people that are being a bit over the top.

Yes there are issues but if you dont think some on here are taking it too far you're burying your head in the sand more than youre accusing Kimbo of.

With all the negativity, trolling from non north supporters on north flagged accounts and overall shitty attitude prevalent after a loss its good to escape to a well reasoned thread thats not all doom and gloom sometimes.

If you're allowed to call end of the world, others are equally entitled to their opinion that its not.

Anyone remember when we beat Port after trailing all day at Manuka? Good times.
What go's around comes around.
You mob still have a great record against us.
Hot and cold though.
Knock of the cats convincingly one week then lose to the dogs and our rabble.
Schizophrenic!

These threads make me sick.

Would you like a broom to sweep the crap under the carpet or some help burying your head in the sand?

The quicker everyone realises that this club is going down the shitter as quick as you can blink and something needs to get done the better off we all will be.

Making crap excuses for atrocious loses and hoping and praying that it will all one day turn around is the stuff of fools.

If I hear that another post claiming this was the loss we had to have and we are going to do a Geelong of 2007, I think I will vomit.

The fish rots at the head!

Now thats some real perspective not some air fairy, mumbo jumbo, kumbaya shit!

Except that NM continually need members, need sponsors and need to be more respected ( otherwise Friday night footy and other "special event" games will not be given to them).

So enlighten me, how does losing to Port actually achieve this.

Does a sponsor say "I'd love to put money into a club that loses games that few other sides will.

Does a prospective supporter say "I want to put money into a club that loses to Port".

And will the AFL give more high profile games to NM.

All the kudos that NM got for beating Geelong have been washed away.

Brad Scott doesn't care about that stuff.

It all about a few life lessons and sacrificing a few games so we can stick to some masterplan that has found out and exposed by nearly every team in the comp.

The Perspective thread (tm) cannot explain what the **** is wrong, and something is wrong.

Very, very, ****ing wrong.

What scares me the most is that our gameplan has been figured out and rendered basically useless in the first third of the season.

The players are being coached to within an inch of their lives. After a while, the message becomes redundant.

Set a basic structure (try having a forward line that, you know, plays there) and let the players play.
