You want some perspective.

Tomorrow my old man is going into hospital for open heart surgey to repair a valve in his heart.

There is your perspective.

Good luck to him DR. Perspective indeed!

Good luck DR.

Our season is shot. Not unreasonable for people to express disappointment (as I have and will). That doesn't mean I won't be going to games and continuing to support the club, but at the same time won't be counted among the sunshine/lollypops/rainbows brigade around here.

So everyones allowed to go into hysterics immediately following a loss, but Kimbo HAS TO (not should, its actually worse than killing someones dog to post it today!) wait til monday to provide some perspective and try and calm down some people that are being a bit over the top.
That's right DP. I call it 'live and let livid'.

The commitment some have to vomiting is commendable. Each to their own puddle of spew I say.:thumbsu:

Hope all goes well with your Dad DR.

Except that NM continually need members, need sponsors and need to be more respected ( otherwise Friday night footy and other "special event" games will not be given to them).

So enlighten me, how does losing to Port actually achieve this.

Does a sponsor say "I'd love to put money into a club that loses games that few other sides will.

Does a prospective supporter say "I want to put money into a club that loses to Port".

And will the AFL give more high profile games to NM.

All the kudos that NM got for beating Geelong have been washed away.

Keep away from sharp objects I suggest

Give me a break OP we are a rubbish footy club at the moment! This isn't the club I grew up and fell in love with! Scott has come and turned them into gutless sports science wanna be's and if brayshaw doesn't have the balls to make the had calls at the end of the year he needs to step aside as well! Simply not good enough! Hide behind it we might have but the shinboners are who we are and who we will be along time after the ex lion leaves our club!

Unfortunatly your very sensible post didn't stop me from wanting to smack my best mate across the face tonight, constantly giving me shit and trying to get others to.

But very good post none the less.

MAKE LEMONADE!

The Port one was definitely 2005. I know because I moved back to melbourne a week later, or thereabouts. I think the one you're thinking of is the Sydney game, Archers game. That was in 2004. Back in the days when North were actually a tough side.

A lot of talk about the Sydney comeback. Great night. But really, Sydney gave up a huge lead to a middling opponent, had lost bady a few times that month and everyone agreed their game style was turgid. Roos bloody lucky to survive.

I am not saying North will win a flag next year, back up for a GF the year after and be a constant respected finalist for years. I'm just saying you never know the future and you are silly to overreact to one game, two games or a handful of games.

2004 was also the year we pantsed Hawthorn by 84 with Shane Harvey kicking a bag. Another good day that meant FA in the scheme of things. As this bad day may well do.

All the best to him, Rob, and you. I know how you're feeling, I've been down that road with my old man and you're right, this is kiddy shit compared to that. IIRC I wasn't even worrying about NM when that was going on, or anything else for that matter. The important thing to remember is that most heart operations are just a procedure these days, and we have some excellent heart surgeons going around. He'll be right mate. Don't worry.

The Perspective thread (tm) cannot explain what the **** is wrong, and something is wrong.

The perspective thread is an empty vessel;
it is used,
but never filled.

The perspective thread is like water,
It does not strive.
It flows in places angry posters reject.

Empty yourself of everything.
Let the mind become still.
The ten thousand things rise and fall,
while the perspective thread watches their return.

Well this is none of my business (and I fully expect to be told as such) - but as a Hawthorn member I still remember the 2004-05-06 years so vividly that even today any win over North, Port, Essendon or Adelaide is met with unbridled excitement!

If you want to know what BAD is, just trawl through our results over that 66 game period. You could pick at least 15 games from that period where you thought "they just have no hope at all".

Yet from 07-11 our lowest finish has been 9th and those years included a Premiership and a narrow Prelim final defeat.

Hawthorn used to possess appalling kicking skills, absolutely appalling. Now, mostly due to recruiting and kicking technique training, when on song they are great to watch.

My personal view is that those at the "top end" at North - Brayshaw, Arocca and Scott convey a smugness that is misplaced. North used to be unfashionable but reliable, much like Sydney under Roosy. I think they need a hard-nosed, "dirty" approach to things in general.

I agree and I equate this basically as returning to our roots.

We have our backs to the wall and we need to come out swinging but I think the coach is far too sterile to take this approach and the PC bullshit that has permeated the place since 2007 would support that notion.

James and Eugene were granted a mandate to get this club back up and running and they have performed that feat admirably, however they were not granted a mandate to radically alter the culture of this footy club.

The culture was not and never has been the problem.
