Hence DK resigned once decision to go to new stadium was reached. WACA has always been run by its old membership base, time caught up with them all and now the future has to live with their decisions.
They voted against the WACA merging with footy and turning it into a mega stadium 12 odd years ago. Now they are upset test cricket is gone.
More than just Karma.

I take it you read/post on Skyscraper City? Haha
Its one of the sites i am getting these photos from. I think i mentioned in some earlier posts that these are photos from a range of other websites.

I wish the official stadium twitter feed would have more photos. Dont they realise there are nerds like us out there that just to see more more more.

Thanks for posting the pics, love seeing how its all coming together.
I did drive past a couple of days ago and it looked like a second roof truss had gone up. Should have taken a snap.

Yeh, very useful for pics and inside info SSC is, read it for a number of years. Great to keep up with all major projects around Perth.

I remember hearing whispers on Triple M from Danny Frawley that a City vs Country AFL game was going to be the first game:
http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne...rth-stadium-first-match-to-be-city-v-country/
This stadium is about three years away and could even be two years away. Nobody knows what the first event will be, let alone some Victorian who is nothing but an unfunny, gormless goon for Fox Sports and who is out of touch with the AFL as it is. Plus he's a shit coach. Plus when has there ever been talk of any City v Country Aussie Rules game ever? Basically this guy should realise his nickname is never a term of endearment (except with a roast).

Argentina would be awesome but I still think they'll just opt to open as soon as they can. It wouldn't surprise me if the first game was a WAFL Grand Final or even cricket or something. Does anyone remember what opened Adelaide Oval? Pretty sure some spud sides opened up Etihad in the pre-season cup. I think so long as this ground gets great events, like Leo Messi in the flesh, it won't matter if its the first or fourth event.

A good arena is all that really matters, and good events to go with it.

Also what a spud of an article – firstly, never trust a man with lapels on a casual shirt.

Secondly, who is "Rob Murphy?" Bob Murphy, Robert Murphy... it's like calling Nat/Nathan Fyfe 'Nath Fyfe.'

Also, Josh Kennedy is about as barely a city boy. Apparently he was born in Melbourne but I'm almost certain he basically grew up in Northampton – he was drafted from there anyway. Wiki says he grew up in Canberra and Townsville as well... barely thriving metro areas.

Then again, deadshit Darcy did select that team.

Even up in the 3rd deck it still shouldn't feel too far from the action hopefully.
Will feel pretty bloody close when you're even a third up on the last tier. It's the same as Etihad – you really do hang over the ground there, probably a bit too much because you usually can't see about six metres of boundary if you're sitting in the pocket.

What would my chances be of getting a GA ticket at any stage to the new Perth stadium be?

Depends on the final shake down of the GA vs membership reserve. The clubs will be pushing like crazy to pre sell as much of the ground as they can.

Even if it stays at the suggested 10k for GA, it will sell out fairly quickly IMO. You would want to pre book. I doubt there will be many walk up spots, at least at Eagles games.

Construction of the new Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct commenced on Sunday 7 December 2014.

construction-inforgraphic.png

Key milestones:

  • Pouring of the 1st concrete slab in mid-2015
  • Eight tower cranes in place by end of 2015
  • Seat installation begins early 2016
  • Installation of the unique bronze facade starts early 2016
  • Over 5,700 workers directly employed during construction. Workforce peaks at end of 2016.
  • Grass playing service completed in mid-2017
  • 36 months of construction ending in 2017

So a game of soccer could be played there between November 2017 and late March 2018 when the AFL season starts. As someone mentioned before cricket even the test could be played before footy.

This fact sheet says the train station will be complete between mid and late 2017

The Premier has said a number of times he wants 10,000 seats out of the 60,000 to be GA allocation.

What actually happen in terms of commercial contracts actually signed, and whether he will still be premier when that decision is made... well, remains to be seen.
