The Premier has said a number of times he wants 10,000 seats out of the 60,000 to be GA allocation.

What actually happen in terms of commercial contracts actually signed, and whether he will still be premier when that decision is made... well, remains to be seen.

If that's the case there are going to be a lot of upset eagles members still waiting 'in the wings'.

o_O ... the taxpayer hopes you are right.
What's the latest re rent of the stadium?? I see the WAFC have gone into a JV with Spotless or someone to bid to win the management rights, but would that include rent, or would the rent go to the government body who owns the stadium?

WAFC have formed a consortium with a couple of US based pros, Ticketmaster & Delaware North for stadium management rights, terms unknown.

Understand there are ongoing negotiations over rent involving the Govt, the WAFC & both the Dockers & Eagles.

As for Spotless: Spotless boss Martin Sheppard tries to mop up last week's disaster downgrade.

Does anyone know how many seats are reserved for members currently at Subiaco? I'm guessing its just under 40k. A rise to 50k is a fair increase while still allowing 10k for GA

except that we have 15k in the wings, and each of them will be looking for a couple of seats?

im betting there will be lots of aggro once people realise this billion dollar stadium doesnt even empty our wait list.

It shouldn't matter. With more GA available there wont be such a reliance on being a member.

It's far-fetched to think that everyone on that waiting list is going to get a membership when the new stadium opens.

It's far-fetched to think that everyone on that waiting list is going to get a membership when the new stadium opens.

We don't know how many memberships will roll over from Subi to the new stadium. Not necessarily everyone will transfer their membership. There are some that only keep a membership out of necessity, even though they don't attend every game. There will be some of these that will drop their membership and go for occasional/casual GA tickets for a few games here and there, if they know there's a good chance of such a ticket being available. There must be at least seven of them, but they probably exist in far greater numbers.

I know this has been discussed but I can't help but think they should have a starting capacity of 70k
Especially if some people waiting in the wings still can't get a membership for the 60k. It's WA, 2 teams, massive following there's no way you guys wouldn't fill that to 65k+

The financial reality is how often you fill the place.

Isn't there plenty of supporters who can't get in to games that would then be able to? Would all of them get in for the 60k

Its true in theory ? Will they pay the $s that reserved seating does, what do you think? How many GA seats does Geelong offer at Kardinya Park.

The new stadium won't allow 60k reserved seat memberships for the WA clubs, even if they can be filled - surely.

Agree - footy tourists should be provided for & there should be some GA seating, but how many? IMHO the clubs should offer an equivalent of 3 game memberships for say 10k seats, easily taking up those in the wings & many who aspire to go to games but don't want / afford an 11 game membership (was told this is the eagles plan some time back).

Seems dollars do count - how much will it cost with every GA seat not sold, every GA seat sold for $ less than a members season seat?

Yep, the dollars are in play:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-...-questions-over-stadium-running-costs/7048900
Opposition Leader Mark McGowan has demanded the Government explain what further taxpayer funds may be required to prop up day-to-day running costs.

He wants the Government to release all of its financial modelling for the project.

"West Australians deserve answers. The public deserves answers," he said.

The Government's mid-year budget review showed increase deficits and debt, but also warned of risks to the revenue projections for the stadium.

The review said it was possible the current arrangements could produce a less favourable outcome, requiring additional ongoing government funding of the stadium.

The AFL says 3,000 seats have to be left for the public to buy in any stadium with a capacity of 40k or more. So is Barnet and co. talking about another 7,000 seats or another 10,000 which would make the seats the club sell as reserved seats at 47,000??

Polly speak, who knows?
My take is 'all bets are off', the lower the taxpayer subsidy strategy will win through with a minimum of seats for GA/public style seating.

Is the Adelaide Oval template working ? Should it be adopted? How did the stadium membership go, how is it viewed - I'm anti the MCC/AFL/Medallion Club style seating but .....

This stadium is about three years away and could even be two years away. Nobody knows what the first event will be, let alone some Victorian who is nothing but an unfunny, gormless goon for Fox Sports and who is out of touch with the AFL as it is. Plus he's a shit coach. Plus when has there ever been talk of any City v Country Aussie Rules game ever? Basically this guy should realise his nickname is never a term of endearment (except with a roast).

Argentina would be awesome but I still think they'll just opt to open as soon as they can. It wouldn't surprise me if the first game was a WAFL Grand Final or even cricket or something. Does anyone remember what opened Adelaide Oval? Pretty sure some spud sides opened up Etihad in the pre-season cup. I think so long as this ground gets great events, like Leo Messi in the flesh, it won't matter if its the first or fourth event.

A good arena is all that really matters, and good events to go with it.
Was meant to be the Rolling Stones, but that was cancelled a week or so out when one of the band members partner died and they had to fly back home.

Therefore it ended up being a Showdown.

Either way the potential is there to get nearly 20000 more people to the footy in Perth every week.
20000 more seats may not clear waiting lists completely but it will help without destroying the supply and demand curves which make the 2 WA clubs extremely well funded.
It really is a win win
