With pick 9 Richmond find themselves in an interesting position with some players available that we didn't expect to be there. On the one hand we are in need of some more midfield help but on the other hand our KPP depth took a bit of a hit this off season with both Chol and CCJ moving on.

So after mulling over the options the Tigers are incredibly happy to select Josh Gibcus from GWV Rebels.

Gibcus is the premier KPD in the draft with all the tool a modern day defender needs. He has speed, can leap, has clean hands and is very composed. While he has the height at 195cm he will need a bit of development time in the gym to get his 87kg frame up to the mid 90s, which he will be afforded while Tarrant holds the fort for a couple of years.

Alongside Balta, Gibcus could form a formidable combination in our D50 for the next 10-12 years.

This was a hard decision with so many possible players to select and with some home grown talent still available , Mathew Johnson was the other consideration and probably the safer selection at this pick but 'No Guts No Glory'

The thing thats most appealing about Erasmus is how far he has come in such a short time paying AFL and to be considered a top 10 talent in this time indicates his talent and ability. Great tank and still only 17 years old Erasmus could become Freo's Natt Fyfe replacement
