Well this sucks dick.

But... I don't reckon he'll fair to well being a senior coach. To me, he just doesn't seem to "have it."

If he goes, **** him, we'll find a suitable replacement, maybe even someone better.

Have some faith my friends.

If true I wonder how long Walsh has been involved in the interview process for and if so would the club have been precluding him from any future stategies until the process is complete?

Choco , Primus , Sando etc , get the bullet and get paid out contracts = fair enough , Richo , Walsh leave early , do we get a breaking of contract refund/payout , bloody hope so ,piss poor contract management if not.
thats rubbish, all assistant coaches have clauses to leave if they get a senior head coaching role, other wise you wouldnt have those assistants at your club in the first place. was ken still contracted when we got him, who cares, he wanted to be a senior coach.

If i remember correctly we got 100k for Richo's departure.
Well that makes it a bit more bearable , I mean any company worth its salt wouldn't pay for employees to go on study tours/training and so forth so that they can just walk away and reap the benefits of it without some kind of self interest clause/s , except the public service that is.

If we stopped being one of those everybodies , grew balls so to speak , other clubs will follow , and probably put a brake on this crazy merrygoround , like I say , if they don't wanna sign , bye bye , you will still get decent people who'll do it.

sorry but thats nonsense.

Two years in a row, and to loose a real Port man like Walsh hurts.

Worried about who he will take with him.....

Adelaide were always going to go for a PAFC theme. They want us so bad.

Fair enough , I know what your saying is currently the norm , but it doesn't have to be all a one way street , I cant see why a club cant write contracts for coaches/assistants looking after there own interest first , second and third , I mean whom is paying whom , and once they decide to leave I for one don't wish them well , but I suppose we'll agree to disagree , cheers.

He's not a real port man for mine, bailed for cash once and could be a chance to do it again. He spent far more time at the Eagles than port did he not?

we should get Sanderson as an assistant as pay back!

pfft we had Sanderson as an assistant years ago and he pulled the same shit mid contract and asked and received a release, time to put our foot down.

if the Crows poach Walsh they better pay us for his remaining contract, we've had too many over the years back out of contracts to feather their nests, heck 'em, it's hardball time:mad:

If he goes, it in ucks, but we will survive. You cant get around the 'we build a team, not individuals' mantra only to get our knickers in a knot when we lose an individual. We will move on and be stronger next year.
Great post macca hawthorn lost leon cameron and adam simpson in successive years and they didnt miss a beat u replace them and move on

Dead set true !

ill agree on the dont wish them well, i wouldnt care if they lost 22 games and got the sack, but a club cant stop an assistant from joining another club to be a head coach. its what happens when you are up the top, look at all the coaches recently being looked at for senior roles, all have come from either geelong hawthorn sydney and now port. noone is poaching from st kilda or melbourne (or the crows)

Okay, so who do we find to be our third midfield/senior assistant in three years? Whoever take on the role has a pretty good chance of being a senior coach at some stage.

I don't blame Phil if he takes on the crows job, but for a fella who we know hates them - he must be getting a good amount of coin.

Why does this keep ****ing happening to us

If you want to go for a senior coaching position, go for your life, but at least be honest and upfront about it. Sick of only finding out about this stuff a couple of days before it's announced.

Losing Richo was bad but I don't really think it mattered. Ken knows what he is doing, he's a leader, if phil goes maybe he realises he's not really needed anyway. Get lingy?
