Let's say he takes the job we need a replacement, not just a "name" we need someone with similar smarts I'd imagine... let the search begin.

We were never going to have it all our own way vis a vis the Starlings. They were always going to come back hard once they had someone like Ricciuto on board. Good move by them strategically because presumably he can coach and our box is minus one. Their supporters will be split and unless he turns them around, they will pull out the knives and brandish knitting needles early. That's if he gets/takes the job. I look at our players and know they will continue to do better, whether Walsh is with us or agin us. They can take our assistants but they'll never tear us apart. And there will be plenty of good people now willing to join us, don't you worry about that.

Whilst Walsh has always been highly rated, I never thought seriously about it that he would ascend to senior coach one day.

I effin hope he doesn't go to the Tingles. If he leaves, at least go to the Gold Coast. Sh1t if I was given a choice, I would pick GC over Tingles with the list they have.

Don't think he's accepted but Tredders has said it's his if he wants it. Why would he be doing interviews if he didn't?

they've clearly been watching us closely. names they've chased have included Haysman, Burgo, now Walsh. Matthew Nicks was also brought up. This would surely give us an anger to steam roll them in both showdowns next year I hope to teach them.

• Stuart Dew, my favourite ex-Port player
• Brendan Bolton, the least unlikeable person in football

I don't want Walsh leaving us to go anywhere else, and I don't want Dew or Bolton coaching the Crows. Can we have a 4th option please? Bring Bassett back, he would've been the perfect boring arrogant campaigner to coach our cross-town rivals.

Bassett was perfect for the role. He had a whole season under his belt being an assistant.

This is going to be awesome - the crows are demanding attacking football from their prospective coaches - immediately. Hinkley has always said that he values defense over attack - all the entertainment comes from free flowing play through successful set ups.

The only way that you get the attacking portion first is by opening up your side up to big, confidence-sapping defeats. Bring on 2015.

Would rather lose an assistant coach(who we can replace this of season) than a handful of players who are vital to our culture and success. Look what Tippet did to the crows after their Prelim, not to mention, Bock and Gunston who followed. This could be a positive change for us and there are a few coaches in the market with what's going on. We must be more ruthless with our next assistant and his terms, depending if this happens though.

Yeah, well lets hope he's wrong. He also said that Walsh made his intentions to the club earlier this week. Never mind Rucci. Tredrea and Caro report it also, doesn't look good.

It just shits me that he came in to replace AR who pissed off out of the blue and now PW is doing the same thing, 1 year into his 3 contract.... I don't care about his aspirations to become a senior coach, it's all a bit Judas-ish for my liking.
