the thing that shits me if he signs with the Camries is the way contracts mean nothing, when we approached him at West Coast he knew full well on how we wanted commitment after being left in the lurch with Richo's departure previously , the club offers 3 years for Walsh's job security , we relocate him and his family at great expense, provide education, trips etc so he can grow and be the best possible to teach and nurture our young playing group and 12 months later into a 3 year contract he's off being wined and dined like a cheap hooker ready to latch onto the next wealthier john:thumbsdown:, don't sign on for 3 year commitments if you're looking at the job as a stepping stone:rolleyes:, all it does is screw the club around and waste valuable resources with ip now accessible by a rival:mad:

Yeah it is annoying. We have to fill a role left by a bloke that broke his contract to coach the saints. (I'm sure he's having heaps of fun) and now the guy who pretty much replaced him has broke his contract to coach the camrys. I really hope he gets a reality check like Richo would of gotten.

Nah - he is taking a senior gig. They haven't 'poached' him they have recruited him to be their head coach and by all accounts needed to throw a huge amount of cash at him to do so.

I find it amusing that people look at us as a benchmark - we ain't achieved anything yet.

Think about walsh's position offered a four year deal worth 3 times more money even if it doesn't work out he wil be set financially. And for the cows to poach him they have gone to the three best positioned clubs in the afl and are trying to get their best assistants. Hence if we want a replacement why would we go with Chad cornes or other suggestions from the bottom placed teams, go and get Sewell or okeefe, and while I'm at it burns will definitely not come to adelaide in any role unless it's a head coach.

2-3 months? We'll get someone in 2-3 weeks.
But the deadline would be just before Christmas break though right? We don't need someone in his role during the trade period and draft.

There's no deadline. You want to get someone in before the players come back to get them up to speed with Ken's strategies and working with the players as soon as they get back.

These Camry plebs on BF are one of a kind though, they would hardly have heard about Phil Walsh until a few days ago & suddenly he's the real football brain at Port

Burgo is all hype they've been saying for 2 years & now all of sudden their getting hard over yonder about stealing his assistants.... double :rolleyes:

Its probably already been said but Walshy can take the IP but it's Kenny who has what it takes to make it work. Walshy is not Kern and never will be. He is the yeah, nah, maybe, nah, yeah person who the Korporation have thrown a bucket load at to convince him to go there. It simply wont work like it does at Port without Kern.

Also, we lost Richo last year with Kenny's blessing and we got better without him. If we lose Walshy, it will no doubt be with Kenny's blessing again and I am confident as Ford Fairlane is that it will be soldier out, soldier in and business as usual. Kenny knows who the good characters in the AFL system are and he has KT's and Kochie's good judgement as back up. I would like to predict it will be Bluey McKenna.

If it is the case that the Korporation had to talk Walshy into taking a job then it is doomed from the start. Good on Nicks for turning them down but he may not have had a choice if he is contracted.

I agree with those pointing out that Roo as a board member (not even the Chairman) should not be making public comments on football operations. No doubt he will end up chairman of the Carpark Korporation so if he keeps commenting as he does now, this could also end in tears.

Dont see why we should have hard feelings. Wish him well, him personally and his family. Wont wish him luck because well the crows lol but good on him for landing a top job. Shows port can develop and find good coaches. Almost a pat on the back to us.

Nice sentiments.
Unfortunately being nice wins no premiership.
And patting yourself on the back for losing a coach - assuming it happens - puts zero on the scoreboard, deservedly.
Do not lose sight of the fact that the Crows are the damn enemy, to put it nicely.

I read somewhere that Walsh told the club during GF week that he was trying out for the job. You can bet that KT and Ken have already made a list of potential replacements and possibly already started sounding out some of them.

The only thing i would like for Kochie and KT to do is not allow Walsh to start his new position until 2 things have occured. First, he cant start til we have a replacement, second he cant be involved in any discussions with his new club til after trade and draft.

Wont happen but would be nice.

*if Walsh gets/takes the gig

The Rooch-ster has left 2007 Grand Final hero Brad Symes off his list. Also missed my boy David Brown.

Hodges doesn't belong on the list since he never played a league game for Port.

Also where is Brenton Sanderson? Another former Port Adelaide assistant to coach Adelaide.

if the Starlings do appoint Walsh, and pinch a few more from our support staff, it really is an all-in hand. It is an admission that they have no real culture of their own and that their boys' club has produced only failure and disappointment. Thus, they have chosen to copy, thinking that they can buy success. You get what you deserve, as someone tells us regularly. If they don't produce something this time, it's bye bye Birdie. One can only hope.

Went onto the crows board to see what they think of most likely getting Walsh but they appear FAR more interested in some fella called Rucci. This Rucci fella must be bloody good, maybe a smokie for one of their assistant spots?
