Dak is the least of our worries and will be fine and will get payed when that time comes.

I am glad most under rate him especially Eagles fans because of the same Wentz draft etc and difference of picks needed to secure both our franchise QBs. We both won regarding Wentz and Dak IMO and it is not a dick measuring comp regarding the 2 and I rated Wentz way more than Goff also and still do. Sadly injuries and lack of weapons have hurt him but he virtually got you to a SB which Foles won and the rest is history. One could argue all the stars aligned that year and it was a sort of fluke and until you compete again for it the later is always prevelant in discussions.

Anyway it is what it is and the picks you make in rounds 2-5 usually are the most telling in terms of drafting for need.

Long way to go still and then multiply that by 5!

Sigh.

Maybe I should have left it until tomorrow to return to the board.

To think we passed on Mims and Baun too.

Could have used the pick to fill any number of positions of need. Instead we blow it on a guy that won't play, and at best we can suggest might be involved in a few gadget plays a year.

Contemptuously arrogant.

And if we wanted qb depth why didn't we use pick 32 on Lamar Jackson 2 years ago?
Just bizarre stuff, unless some kind of trade is lined up with a team that specifically requested Hurts.

And I didn't think teams were allowed to on trade rookies any more?

A LB in round three.

So pretty much that's it then. After wasting a season by giving him no weapons, the sum total of our off season assistance for Wentz was one measly pick. Nothing brought in in Free Agency, we didnt double dip in the top end of in the deepest wide out draft of all time.

Instead we spent resources on his ****ing back up.

The team is negligent. It's unbelievable that they've decided to do exactly what they did to McNabb to Wentz.

I’m still reeling from the Hurts pick. We’ve only just given Wentz a huge, long term contract. So have we just drafted him to be a back up? Are we wanting to squeeze Wentz out?

This makes zero sense to me when we have so many holes that need filling.

That is so stupid.

You spend a second round pick on someone for a few little trick plays here and there, rather than someone who can actually contribute to a position of need as a low salary starter for years?

Our front office doesnt just drink its own bath water right now, when its time to piss it out they bottle it and drink it again later. Have any of our 'outsmarting the league' picks ever actually worked out ever?

Just pick football players to play.

Maybe they think Hurts is the next Lamar Jackson?

Lots of people said Jackson was a sure fire bust (and he still can't throw), so don't just dismiss the potential thinking there. Hurts is no worse a thrower / decision maker than Jackson.

So then we drafted all of the speed receivers, and traded for Goodwin

Not sure that I'm that excited with them- we havent had a late round wide out pan out in what feels like forever, but I suppose with everything we've thrown at it plus Desean surely at least one of them has to stick.

I dunno, I don't see the Hurts pick as bad as all you guys seem to do given Wentz injury history. But BPG did bring up a point in the draft discussion about creating a QB controversy as soon a Wentz form may dip, which is true, and not something I really considered.

I know they only just signed him to a long term deal but it's always good to keep your options open moving forward. You don't know what the real injury history on Wentz is, only what has been reported. There could be plenty of things we don't know about. I just don't see them doing something like this to outsmart the league if there was nothing wrong with Wentz.

It's a ridiculous pick no matter which way you look at it.

Yes, a backup is needed & draft one in the 3rd or 4th & no one blinks an eye, that's sound business. Drafting Hurts in the second, the type of player he is, the controversy it's already created, the glaring needs in the secondary, at linebacker, at wideout still, is bad business.

Wentz may get hurt week 4, Hurts comes in & stars for a few games until he's back & Howie is a genius. Then what?... They've handed Wentz a poisoned chalice with this pick as this was finally his team, well it was until they go draft a QB like Hurts in the second. DUMB.

I'm sure you'll love my other take on this then.....maybe they are looking at/thinking about trading Wentz. :)

Well... strong comments.
I haven’t minded the results. There is competition and depth.
some of that is far from expected picks but all in all I’m happy.
Really like the undrafted guys. Reading up in them reads like 6-7 rd picks anyway.
I think there will be quite a different look next season

You absolutely do not want 'competition' at the quarterback position when you have a young franchise quarterback, and when you've already had issues with players undermining in the locker room.

Yes it is.

Well, logic says if you take a QB in the second round you consider him more than just a backup. I wouldn't move Wentz, but I believe there is much more to this than what we are just hearing, Philly wanting to become the QB factory of the universe.
