For those interested in studying at the Howie University of Cap Manipulation Management :

His basic philosophy is "$10 mil in this years salary cap is worth more than $10 mil in the salary cap in 2-3 years time"

Howie playing with the cap numbers again

$51m per is fair enough & 5 years also works for me rather than the longer deals we often see these days.

It's almost certain there will be substantial cap bumps in the next couple of years in the order of 12% per year, so very soon $50mil will not be that big an issue. & as you say trikster , this deal will be backloaded to the max.

& we are running back a very decent roster. The window is still open & sure, it wont be easy but since when has making a SB ever been.

These are the numbers I was waiting to see ... and the Hurts to Jones comparisons (both in play and contracts) for the next forever will be fun as all hell.

Of note is the new deal supposedly includes a no trade clause, which is reported as the first time in franchise history.

Baffles me how other GM's aren't structuring deals in a similar way

Isn't the next two years thing misleading because it's still last year of the rookie deal?

Giants declined option on Jones, the clowns
2023 is the last year of his rookie deal yes. Spotrac have his 2023 cap hit at $4.8mil so not sure if one is wrong or they re-worked 2023 (if that is even allowed)

Love the way the deal is structured, Hurts doing us a solid by pushing the majority of his contract into the latter years. Great stuff and management by Howie & co.
