Yeah weird signing, lots of experience & good record as a DC but players relationships, Slay for example, dont seem to be his strong suite. If he's just there as a guiding hand for Desai, it might ok.

$16mil cap hit for this season, no way we can afford him without trading out a number of players. Can't see it happening, supposedly the Cowpukes were the ones most likely to get him IF the titans decided to trade him.

Last I heard after the Hurts deal, there was around $20mil in cap space. Either way they could agree to restructure & make it a 2 year deal. Bit of a pipe dream I know but I'd just love to see Henry behind this O'line.

yep this number is right. Which is amazing considering they have only a few major gaps and is the 7th highest at the moment.

Like how many times does a team that played in the SB also 'win' the draft.

Pretty cool to see, and as far as I'm concerned re: the knocks on Carter - he's on the best possible team to learn and mature, and if he doesn't that's on Howie and he should be loudly criticized for it. But making sweeping character assumptions about him now are just folks playing couch psychologist.

Yes & no I'm thinking with Sweat/Reddick/Nolan providing plenty of chaos factor. & there's sure to be an FA signing to come.
Agreed. To expand on what I said, our top 3 DT's are Cox/Davis/Carter, i.e. a guy at the end of his career and effectively 2 rookies given Davis missed 5 games and wasn't used a heap in the games he did play last season. So the "2 rookies" need to stand up in the middle otherwise the DE's wont get much of a chance to be effective.

Hoping they take the best RB available that they like with the next pick but they probably go Guard - Torrence or Vorhees.

Then that's it till the 7th, unless Howie makes a move.

By the time it got to 65/66 picks there weren't any RB's of value. They went left G/T from Bama and then S from Illinois. So added OL depth who maybe could start on the right side next season, and the safety looks like a solid starter at a position of need. So not the hype of our first rounds picks :) but good solid picks.
We have a 6th and 3 7's remaining (at the moment, this is Howie)

Brown looks like a nice pick.

& trading back there probably doesn't look like much but it's what separates Howie from most other GM's. You think if he's running things at the Lions he takes the RB & LB at the positions they did? No way.

An extra benefit of drafting Smith is it half covers LB. They can run more 5 man front (Reddick, Cox, Davis, Sweat, Smith) and have either Reddick or Smith drop back in to coverage when required .. and if not required then full send all 3 DE's and watch the QB panic
