Nope, while Swift had a good bounce-back year last year, he isn't the receiver that Saquon is, and he can't pass block to save his life.

They specifically had to keep him on a snap count because they obviously worried about his fragility, and we had to take him off the field on third downs for Gainwell because we didn't trust him in pass pro.

General point being that I feel we are overpaying at the position.

Its like fourth per year amongst RBs, not exactly an outlier. I get it, some people think any money there is too much. I've held that view somewhat in the past.

But I can see what they're doing, they're swinging for the fences now when they still have Brown and Smith under contract control for the next two seasons.

The path way to winning a superbowl for this team is through having an elite offence and a good enough defence, with the hope that we get a performance improvement from Fangio / scheme on defence enough.

We have those four picks. Assuming we go tackle in the first round, there's plenty of resource available to improve LB, edge, Safety, or corner (noting we're not likely done just yet in the market), and we haven't even gotten the returns from either Haas or Sweat.

I dunno why you're not that upset by it, you wanted a rebuild after the disaster of the past season no?

I think RB's have a career carry limit and burn out quick once they reach it. For me Saquon will be good for us but won't put us in SB contention. We should've really addressed the defensive issues first IMO.

They have four top 100 picks, and signed Huff today, and got Fangio. We have plenty of resource to significantly improve the defence. We were never going to be able to change the offensive personnel given contracts- we need that to improve through strategy, and this is the one piece that we could upgrade.

Re: rebuild, it has a different connotation in AFL terms than NFL- you can retool a roster in an offseason if you're aggressive. The idea we're shopping our edge rushers etc does demonstrate not running it back with the same group.

I also think, if you wanted change, this is a significant departure from previous organisational philosophy. Which suggests that perhaps other things are on the table too.

I would have fired Nick, but absolutely nothing on the table this week could change that.

Eh we'll see. I still don't really like it. I'm a bit at a crossroads about where we are going next season.

None of that is going to matter when we're going to need to score 30+ points to win most weeks.

Looking like Sweat might be the one moving. Huff adds pass rush juice from what Sweat produced last year.

Rogers and CJGJ are capable of bolstering the secondary, alongside development from Ricks and particularly Ringo.

Baun, and Dean returning, helps LB, but I think they'll still make an addition there.

With development from Carter and Davis and Smith on the d line, this defence should be improved from last year. Then again anything would be.
