Well once again lacking consistency, beating a good player and then falling to a battler like sargsian.

Real great form there by him hey....... not !
Lets go Lleyton, the real Australian tennis star !
Comparing the 2 is like comparing chalk to cheese :D

why do we need to compare them at all? cant we just enjoy good Australian tennis players without having to bag one?

Oh btw Phillipousis is struggling with fitness , it is a minor miracle he was able to compete at all, hell only get better from here

we get that one fed to us every time he makes a comeback, if it is like the rest of the comebacks he will fizzle out over the year and then this time next year will come back and beat a good player at the aus open before losing to a lesser known again.
If he was struggling for fitness so much why did he beat such a good player in srichaphan

You're a find piece of work aren't you eastaugh? Bag the hell out of a champion like Scud then freak out when people can't stand the arrogant Lleyton Hewitt. Would you have a different impression of Phillipousis if he was born in SA? Would you at least be magnanimous to grant him the fact he is struggling with injury?

Played 6 games since coming back from injury.

I would say that he would lack fitness there somewhere.

He beat Srichaphan because he had enough fitness to get through that match. But to back that up two days later with another long match is just too much for someone who has played vvery little tennis.

He dropped the 3rd set deliberately trying to rest himself, that is my guess to give it one final shot.

Would have gone to a 5th set except that umpire is a goose and is blind as a bat.

He will be back, better than ever.
You wait and see.
Davis Cup just around the corner too.
Go scud!

He is a player that comes along once every 10 years, like an agassi, or sampras.

Agassi and Sampras are two players Easty. They have both played over the last 10 years, how can they be the type of player "that comes along every 10 years"?

Its a saying, meaning he will end up becoming an all time great, in the same way sampras and agassi will and mcenroe and connors have in the past and philipousis wont

you really take the cake easty. u have a go at mase etc for his dislike towards hewitt weather its right or wrong that his opinion as its the right of you and others to defend and put up a reasonable case for hewitt then you come out with this crap.
if u would have worked it out the scud is on the comeback trail he even said it himself he wasnt expecting to get to far this year.
if you need proof and i hope this dosent happen lets see how far hewitt gets if he breaks down?
both players have the ability to be no1 hell i beleive with a bit of luck scud would have reached no1 before hewitt.
in the end they are both australians we all should be proud of their efforts in the past, present and future.

cheers!

Yeah, Scud has one more Hopman cup.

With Jelena :D

IMO Scud played his final against Srichaphan. He had nothing left in the tank given his last of form and returning from injury. He also wants to play Davis Cup next month - lets get on his side!

Go scud!

Absolutely, and Mark will win us the DC on his own just like the last time he played!

A fit Marky Mark could wipe the floor with Hewitt. Watching the big scud hammering down those serves towards him would no doubt have little Lleyton running to his mum for the toilet paper.... Hope they paid him in stock for those ads. ;)

Who honestly cares about Davis cup? Half the tennis countries dont.. its a stupid tournament, and a waste of time.

The other thing that is stupid is Hewitt. He is a moron, how anyone can support that immature little toss is beyond me.

Scud will be back, and it was a great effort getting to the 3rd round with what preperation he had.

Stop living in the past you clinger ! His behaviour has improved tremendously. Did you not ever do anything wrong in your teen years ???? I think not. Go Hewitt !

A fit 'marky mark' wouldnt get close and you saying that he would hammer those serves down and hewitt couldnt cope proves that Marky mark relies too much on a serve and without it would be even further off the mark of being a top player unlike hewitt who doesnt have the serve but is still number 1 ! YEAH ! Love it ! :D

A fit, focused and game fit Mark Philippoussis living to his potential would be the current World Number One.

I am sorry eastaugh36, but Mark has a lot of talent, and probably has more potential in his little pinky than Hewitt, he just hasn't played to his potential (he started to, but has been injured).

Mark will be in the top 10 by years end, possibly top 5.
Bookmark this if you like.

He will win or come close to at least 1 slam, possibly Wimbledon.

potential is nothing. You have to realse that potential and Hewitt is able to and philipoussis is not. At the end of the day Hewitt will be remembered as the far better player. Simple. Without his serve, he'd be in even more trouble.

Mark may not realise his potential, but he may do so.
I am of the feeling that he will in the next year or so. You'll see.
