Yeh...I admit I probably got a bit excited, because there have been a couple of time when I wouldve liked a footyjumpers.com for the SANFL.

Mmmm...I wonder how long it took Mero to get together all the historical stuff for the VFL/AFL one.

For the socks you have to make shapes like it says to do in the tut, for the WB hoops. I found this was taking longer then the actual jumper so now Im using the socks from Smeagle's Paint templates. This way I just have to decide on a design and use the fill bucket to create the socks. Takes a fraction of the time and is alot less fiddly.

Ganty, I've been talking with Smeagle re: collaborative efforts on getting together jumper guides for the state leagues. I'm slowly trawling through the VCFL - although not historical guernseys as that would take forever, just this year's guernseys.
No sponsors for the country towns either - around a quarter wouldn't have any, and it would be too hard to keep up with the changes.

If there are any complex designs that I can't wrap my head around designing, I'll ask Smeags, Cory, Aidan or another Paint wiz (maybe even the newcomers like Omega, Sepultallica, Easty) to help out. :thumbsu:

I will help with a few if you like depending on how hard they are

Mmmm...Im part way through the 2010 SANFL Jumper Guide, but a lost interest because of all the sponsors logos. I was also having trouble getting together enough actual resource pics from this year.

I might have another crack in the coming days now that the season is complete and there should be enough resource pics scattered around now. Hopefully their wont be any huge changes 2010-->2011, so it will be just a matter of re-jigging a couple of things next year.

If TSL is involved I could help, I've been thinking about making them for a while, not that any of them are very coplex although the sponsors logos might be....

I thought you were a Miami or Orlando supporter, HSSB??
I've been changing ever since I started watching NBA, started with Orlando, went to the Lakers, then Orlando, then Phoenix, then Miami, then Phoenix, but then before the season I realised how awesome the Celtics are, I've found that it's really easy to swap and change your NBA team

Yeah I'd be happy to help out where I can, be that for research, jumper design stuff, etc etc.

Hi guys,
Quick question in regards to photoshop.
For our local club I want to make a distressed version of our logo (like the AFL clubs are selling these days).

How do I change or filter the photo to make it looked distressed?
Any help much appreciated.

I just got cs5 yesterday, would most of this stuff be the same?
How are you going with the CS5 PS??

Im not sure if there is a filter or effect that can make the logo look old and distressed, but I think there is some brush shapes that you could use as an eraser to get the desired effect. Ill give it a crack now and see what I come up with...

Ive tested my eraser on the logo theory and it works.

Step by step guide
1. Download these brushesDownload Link
2. To install the brushes unzip the downloaded file and place the .abr files into:
Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop X\Presets\Brushes where X is the version number for your version of Photoshop.
3. Open the logo in PS, select the eraser then make sure the Backgound Colour is set to white.
4. In the top left corner there is the drop down menu to select what eraser brush shape and size you would like to use. Go right down to the bottom of this menu and select one of the new spatter shapes.
5. There should be an outline of the eraser brush over the logo. Position this outline where you would like and click.
6. You might have to have a couple of goes to get it how you would like.
7. Save, Print and show to your footy club's President...

Hey, I have stupid Elements 8, and it won't let me edit socks without simplifying the whole layer, which makes me colour the whole sock instead

Yeah I have Elements as well, it doesn't handle layer sets which means that the templates don't work properly. Somebody with a full version of PS would have to expand the layer sets, then save a new version of the template and send it to you.

Can I ask why people are using Photoshop to produce flat images like footy jumpers?
Illustrator comes out at the same time, and is designed for 2D, where PS is designed for 3D pics and so on.

There are a multitude of tutorials, plus, because they're both made by Adobe, and part of CS, the look and feel is very similar.
All you really need to get used to is Bezier curves.

Oh, and on country footy jumpers, I helped his guy a few years back with some designs: http://www.countryfootyscores.com/
Click on each League or Region for each comp, which gives you jumpers for each team.

So i've recently got PS, and i'd like to start using it to design jumpers.

However - I've no idea how to erase the overhang of a design. Could someone please explain to me in simple terms what I need to do? Is there a video somewhere? It's quite confusing.

Thanks!

I usually move the layer of design that overhangs to below the guernsey layer, put a colour overlay on that design layer so it stands out and any different colours don't matter (something that doesn't exist in the design - bright green, pink, etc), turn off the stroke for the guernsey layer, go select colour and click on the design layer.

Then make sure the layer is selected hit delete and the overhang is removed. Any outlines left can easily be erased and the layer can be moved back on top of the guernsey layer and the colour overlay and stroke can be turned off and back on in their respective layers.

And remember if you don't get it right first time there is an undo button!!!
