Smillie's point of difference is his size.
All the great mids create time and space and find targets while the lesser ones hack it forward as has always been the case.
That is what worries me with Jagga, the highlight reel I watched had him blindly kicking forward far too often.
Can we have Hopper/Taranto/Lalor/Smillie in the same midfield? So slow.

We just need to be able to rotate them with quickish mid/forwards while they rest forward so it's not always the bulls on parade.

Pick 1 has to be O’Sullivan or Jagga. Lalor is always injured and unfit. Could be the biggest heck up at no.1 since Melbourne picked Watts over Nic Nat.

The main reasons I reckon Jagga has dropped is he's the perfect Bummers mid..... racks up a tonne of stats without influencing or tearing games a part/ looks good on Supercoach leaderboard but disappoints when you watch him. Also Jagga finished VCE last year, so had all the time in the world to dedicate to footy whilst the vast majority of the 2024 Draft cohort had to dedicate majority of their time to school and homework. He's built like a Thai Burma railway survivor. What's the odds after 5 years in the system he resembles Tiny Timmy Dow. PASS!

I'm betting he's already near his ceiling.... juxtapose this with Lalor who's never had a preseason or Smillie who deserves the same benefit given to KP that he needs time to develop due to his height.

100% ,to those wondering if Smillie has the grit of Cripps,not u RPB,dont forget Crapps spent the majority of his first 2 years in the magoos n wasnt really sighted until he was 23,hes only taken over games the last 6 seasons,the blokes turns 30 soon...so Lalor n Smillie it is ,its a lay up all the way

Hopper goes to vfl or we trade him. Probably end up being a salary dump unfortunately

Why? Because they're most suited to finals footy. (As are Allan, Lindsay and Hynes imo)

Lalor could be the pick of the bunch but his soft tissue history is a concern. Smillie looks a gun but i don't rate him above the aforementioned.
