Why wouldn't he be booed? Because he wanted to move closer to mummy and daddy? Of course he will be booed and thoroughly deserved.

I save my booing for Gaff (which will continue right up to the airport when he finally leaves) and really after that, I just don't have much desire to boo anyone else (obviously with the exception of some umpires).

I save all my boos for you Gaffy, you mongrel, if your reading.

Thanks.

For those who can't remember what happened over a decade ago to a fringe Swans Player (like me)

From Wikipedia - Following the 2008 Grand Final, O'Keefe signalled his intentions to continue his career elsewhere, specifically in Victoria - his place of birth, after knocking back an initial three-year contract offer by the Swans. After a suitable swap was not able to be arranged during the AFL's "trade week," however, O'Keefe decided against entering a pre-season draft where three teams outside Victoria had picks before any other Victorian teams. He then signed a 4-year contract with the Sydney Swans.

I got it. Won a norm Smith against the team who tried so hard to trade for him.

Probably Pre Season Draft.

I think Cerra's priorities are probably move back to Melbourne, get a good contract, join a club that suits him, in that order.

If he can tick off the first 2 he'll be happy to play at a club like North.
If he walks to psd he won't get a good contract.

Unfortunately North have the wooden spoon so the O'Keefe scenario probably won't play out.

Can't you name your terms, eg. Agree terms with North and then have them on your head when they pick you up.

Chris Judd had his career cut short by going to Carlton.

While Cerra might get $100-$150k more per year at the moment, having his career cut short by 2-4 years won't make it worth it.

Yeah the blues ruined him. He did his knee and couldn't be ****ed going through the motions. Retires a super rich man.

You can name your own price in the Pre Season Draft.

The risk of the Pre Season Draft is that some club like, say, the Hawks realise they have a lot of salary cap space. So the Hawks and Cerra's manager do a deal. Cerra puts a contract price of, say, 900k a season on his PSD nomination. This ends of being way too rich for the likes of North or the 'Pies, etc so he slides through to the Hawks who (surprise!) are the first club who can match his price.

Cerra gets his money. The Hawks get their player. Everyone else gets SFA.

(I don't know if the Hawks have the salary cap space, I'm just making the example up)

We can only hope. That would be one hell of an omen.
The Optus crowd would need to be very well managed with media releases prior to the first home game if Cerra signs a deal with us because Melbourne offers all fell through.

This is why I think if that does happen we should be only offering the four year contract.

North are a threat. They have salary space due to missing out on Kelly.

Really doubt it comes anywhere near that.

Cerra will do his thing meeting with a bunch of clubs and inevitably select Carlton.

We will end up their first pick and decent change after our starting price is two firsts and Carlton’s is pick 6 alone.

We have plenty of time before the trade period to start working on a deal. Think West Coast and Geelong (Time Kelly) or Freo and GWS (McCarthy) both deals dropped very early in their trade periods. Even the Jesse Hogan deal was essentially done prior to the start of last years trade period.

Would legitimately laugh if Lyon got the Carlton gig, took Cerra then put him back on the half back line.
Lyon said on FC last night he didn't have an issue with Cerra whilst he was at Freo. Said after he was sacked he & Brayshaw came around for dinner with flowers. Does that sound like a player that didn't get along with his coach?
Also, Teague played SPS (against his wishes) mainly in defence. In the number of times he played mid-field he played well, with great disposal numbers, ncl. a bog against Collingwood. Plus we have a poor record developing younger players, which the club is now addressing out of the External Review. I think he will be part of any deal as part of the Cerra trade. He's still only young, & imo, under the guidance of a new coach, (JL) can really attain his true potential. So it's pick 6 & SPS for Cerra.

I hope you're right!

I'm still yet to see any evidence that we are the slightest bit interested in Petrevski-Seton. There is some indication that we are interested in Jordy Clark from Geelong. We may need a 2nd rounder for that.

Who knows, but don't be surprised if we ask for draft picks only.

So you think he's an uncut diamond who just needs a new coach to unleash his potential?

With Teague going, surely you'd be wanting to reap the rewards once that diamond is turned into thing of beauty?

The only thing SPS is good for is fish bait for Lobb's fishing trips at Rottnest.

Maybe if Blues fans come here and talk SPS up some more, we’ll just give in and trade him for Cerra.
They have a fair point though, I see the same issue with Acres. He's being stifled from his true genius by substandard coaches his whole career. I'm confident given the chance in the right environment at Carlton, he'll turn into the player he has shown glimpses of. I'll regretfully let him go for their pick 24

Im surprised you can keep it to just boo'ing Gaff. He gets a serve and a half anytime he touches the ball.

Are yo comparing the Kelly deal done over 2 trade periods & clubs with premiership hopes, give it a break.
Didn't the eagles give up a future first as well ?

What did West Coast trade for Tim Kelly?

The Cats will receive picks 14, 24, 37 and a future first-round selection while the Eagles receive Kelly, Pick 57 and a future third-round selection. A pick swap with Essendon enabled the deal to be completed. Kelly has signed a six-year deal worth an estimated $5 million with the Eagles

Just because West Coast/Kelly/Geelong is not anything to do with how Cerra is valued. You are trying to compare night & day.

Yeah I never said they didn’t get along. I remember Cerra and fans being frustrated cause Lyon started him off half back, because he wanted him to learn how to defend first. Same with Brayshaw on half forward.

Just having a little laugh based on that happening again, which it won’t.

If we want a lot for Cerra, then his manager needs to find a club that is absolutely desperate for him right now. And we need to be hard-ball enough that we are willing to let him go for absolutely nothing in the pre-season draft if that club isn't prepared to accept our terms until it gets down to the last desperate minutes of trade week.

I hope Freo do do that. I really dont like the way trades are going with players nominating clubs and expecting a deal will just get done. Freo deserve at least what they paid in draft capital for a high pick who is a great player and still very young. Its a shame for you guys that the suns werent sitting with 1 pick in the pre season as going into the draft would not get him home either.

I know its a different sport and he is under contract but LOVE how Tottenham have told Harry Kane your going nowhere son. Because Man City wont pay what they think he is worth. The media there go with the same narrative once a player wants out he gets his way... na.. F#$k them your staying.
