Fair play to him if he doesn't nominate a specific club. I call bullshit on his desperation to get home if he demands a specific club, especially if it's a sh*t club like Carlton.

This is 100% my thinking too. If it was really a desperate call to be home for family it really shouldn't matter what club he goes to as long as he's in Melbourne. So it points to a purely $$ scenario as he's getting plenty of opportunity

I know he hasn't done much, but Brodie Kemp played along side Young and Serong and can play in the midfield, forward line and the defence. Worth asking the question at least
Yeah I'd ask. He comes with the ACL pre-done so that saves us some effort.

Seriously though, he looks a good prospect.

Not sure I am seeing it with Carrol, dude barely played VFL this year (obvs not his fault) and didn't exactly light it up when he did.

I don't want any of the players they would be willing to give up.

I think one of those games he was close to BOG. It's a small sample rate and looks a bit weird on paper with 2 good games and 4 bad games. Might have had some injury interruptions.

At least Carroll is an unknown, rather than proven spud. Way better size as well at 188 cm, but still needs to fill out. Fisher and SPS are quite small and have no physical presence.

https://afl.draftcentral.com.au/player/jack-carroll/ ... his profile reads pretty well to me.

Carroll >>>>> SPS > Fisher

It was another case of Freo taking a mid and ignoring the need for kpp's.
Again it's bitten us on the bum.
Hopefully this time the club realises that for 20 odd years they have **cked up .
Gotta love 'what ifs' and hypotheticals. Naughton would've been our saviour, just like Croad and Headland and Tarrant and Hogan and McCarthy and Hamling and Wilson ........... players always look so good when they play for someone else.

Very young player as well , like a month off being in this draft not the last one

Really has he done much worse than Noddy looking at those stats and a bit of an injury interrupted first year ?

I don't think you can make that call when Carroll hasn't played AFL.

I'd still prefer extra pick/s to take forwards.

sigh... well at least we know our drafting strategy last year was sound.

And that Cerra obviously was desperate to get home if he's prepared to go to Carlton.

Some WA talls and Erasmus (and Clark) pls Justin

Part of me wonders how much Covid has played a part in this decision. If the problem is his family and missus as Pav eluded to yesterday, not being able to travel between Perth and Melbourne could have had a big part to play.

I mean sure if he was happy to go to "victoria" but he's chosen one club which tells you it's about $$ and not family.

Should we organise a board competition for guessing which Carlton spud/s we end up with?

I'll go SPS.

Other options include Fisher, Dow, O'Brien and the freo favourite, Newnes.

It will be SPS.

I look forward to calling him a spud all year while people claim he has potential.

It will be Blake Acres MkII

Crowden can do a job here, sure it's a downgrade but it's not jumping off a cliff. Plus I'd argue he's better around the sticks. Longer-term Chapman or maybe Young will come in.

Gutted, but those the brokes. Played well for us, hasn't nominated so we should be able to maximise value for him. Wish him well.

Paddy Dow is sh*t though. Cerra is hardly sh*t and would go at least at pick 5, possibly even pick 3 if you redid the draft now.
The only guys unquestionably ahead of him are Brayshaw and Naughton. You could argue Tim Kelly but for his age.
Fair call. Should’ve thought before I typed. It’s just so often you hear supporters say - he was a pick 10, we have to get at least that back, when their player is actually bog ordinary. Cerra clearly is not bog ordinary.

The opportunity to live and train in an area like Carlton would have huge appeal to a young kid with lots of cash. Carlton is a nice area with lots of things on offer. Could probably walk to training.

Compare that to spending 30 minutes in a car and driving to Cockburn Central..........what a dump.

Lifestyle is a factor for player retention and attraction and unfortunately we must have the shitest training location on offer - maybe equal to Essendon.

The Cockburn deal will cost our club for many years to come...Thanks Steve!

Sorry for the intrusion guys. I come in peace.
Just wondering what you guys think of a possible trade deal of... (ins and outs from a Carlton perspective obviously)

Out: Pick 6 might drop to #8 with a couple of f/son and academy bids), SPS (seems his papers are stamped after not playing the last 3-4 weeks)
In: Cerra, Freo's 2nd rounder (currently #27, but could drift to low-mid 30's)

I loath to lose SPS, especially if we have a new coach coming in. I also would hate to lose Fisher, but he would be my preference if I had a choice. I used SPS simply because his papers seemed to be stamped for whatever reason. Still think he will go on to be a great player if given the chance to play as a midfielder or high HFF.
Reckon you guys will possibly think it's slight unders and most Blues fans probably think it's slight overs, which usually means it's a pretty good deal for both sides if both feel ripped off.

No chance. SPS is ****ing shit and no way we give a 2nd rounder back. It will be pick 6 minimum.

Yep because the bloke who wants to leave because he misses his family will change his mind cause he’s training 10 minutes up the road from the current location. wanting to leave due to needing a 4 hour flight to see family + battle any border restrictions to do so, will clearly be mitigated by training in a different location

Hahahahaha

Hell no. SPS is a spud who will be delisted.

To clarify, my rankings are on who I would prefer. An unknown quantity with good attributes (courage, athleticism, disposal, decision making, size, bottom age, upside, etc) is a better option than 2 list cloggers.

I wouldn't give you a 2nd rounder for SPS, let alone trying to include it as some 'bonus' in the Cerra deal.

I can see this being like the Brad Hill trade all over again....

Peter Bell will as for a couple of 1st rounders.

I wont be Suprised if Carlton trades pick 6 for Brisbanes pick 15 and 18. Then Freo trades Adam Cerra and a future 3rd for picks 18, Carltons 4th rounder in 61 and SPS.
