Gotta love 'what ifs' and hypotheticals. Naughton would've been our saviour, just like Croad and Headland and Tarrant and Hogan and McCarthy and Hamling and Wilson ........... players always look so good when they play for someone else.
I know you dont like Bell and I have reservations too but he's been fine on the trading players out part. We'll get their first pick and change no doubtI didn't say they did, that was the point. Most clubs don't trade top 5 picks away after four years unless they have a basket case on their hands that they just want to get rid of. So there is very little precedent for being confident we will get top 5 plus value for Cerra, even though he's worth it. Especially with Bell's chequered history
If he wants to return to Victoria, he might not want to join a club being relocated to Tasmania in a couple of yearsHe actually hasn’t nominated a team yet has he ?
If not I would be going to either the Roos or the Hawks.
Actually Salim has said we should (have) select Naughton since before that draft AND we did the same thing last year in selecting Chapman even with Hamling, Pearce, Logue and Cox. Fact is, Cerra was a mistake, and Salim was right from Day 1, and we should have drafted Naughton.Well Cerra never actually said that. There are no guarantees Naughton is what he is if he was picked up by us and he still has a bit of work to do on his kicking. He was also a KPD at that draft, where as we'd only just stocked up at the defensive end with Hamling, Logue, Cox & Ryan in the previous draft and in that draft went for Dixon the pick after Cerra for a KPF option. While we could get sharper with our drafting choices, the context is important if you're wanting to go Captain Hindsight.
mundy and fyfe hell even banfield.Brayshaw serong crowden swita i get a feeling its too many short people.
Well clearly JLo gave him a corkie at training after he said he was leavingSo anyone still think he was Injured on the weekend??
He turned us down we offered 500k same as we offered brad crouch last yearAs I said earlier in the thread, I am not buying that Carlton are the only club that can get Cerra now that every Vic club knows he is available. The Carlton only has been sold by the media but why would you want to go there.
For example, Richmond has recently parted company with two experienced players (that they were not expecting or shoved) that will release significant coin. They also have a better range of draft picks. What about Hawthorn, they could desperately use Cerra and both are preferable clubs to go to. The clubs can release other players to give themselves the chance to pick up Cerra.
We have just begun.
Really, you have no doubt we'll get pick 6? I have some doubt.I know you dont like Bell and I have reservations too but he's been fine on the trading players out part. We'll get their first pick and change no doubt
Hogan, J.I dont think we've lost a player for unders except for maybe Langdon. We get decent compo for the players we lose. Not sure if your serious but none of them have anywhere near the performances Cerra has on the board and Stringer was doing all kinds of nasty things at the Dogs
We would have taken Brander before oa just like West Coast didCerra said he didn't want to come to WA.
Allen was also available. Houghton wasn't the only Kpp.
It was another case of Freo taking a mid and ignoring the need for kpp's.
Again it's bitten us on the bum.
Hopefully this time the club realises that for 20 odd years they have **cked up .
We’ll get pick 6 if it’s Carlton, I have no doubtReally, you have no doubt we'll get pick 6? I have some doubt.
Sort of true, when you push a guy out you get absolutely nothing for them thoughHogan, J.
Doesn't matter too much what anyone said at the time, it's whether the logic to back it up at the time is solid. Given the limited information we have I don't really give too much credit for anyone's 1 that turns out a champ, because there are generally 4 or 5 more they've really really wanted who have faded into obscurity.Actually Salim has said we should (have) select Naughton since before that draft AND we did the same thing last year in selecting Chapman even with Hamling, Pearce, Logue and Cox. Fact is, Cerra was a mistake, and Salim was right from Day 1, and we should have drafted Naughton.
Sorry for the intrusion guys. I come in peace.
Just wondering what you guys think of a possible trade deal of... (ins and outs from a Carlton perspective obviously)
Out: Pick 6 might drop to #8 with a couple of f/son and academy bids), SPS (seems his papers are stamped after not playing the last 3-4 weeks)
In: Cerra, Freo's 2nd rounder (currently #27, but could drift to low-mid 30's)
I loath to lose SPS, especially if we have a new coach coming in. I also would hate to lose Fisher, but he would be my preference if I had a choice. I used SPS simply because his papers seemed to be stamped for whatever reason. Still think he will go on to be a great player if given the chance to play as a midfielder or high HFF.
Reckon you guys will possibly think it's slight unders and most Blues fans probably think it's slight overs, which usually means it's a pretty good deal for both sides if both feel ripped off.
