Step 1: Pick something in someone's post, tell them their wrong.
Do you have a problem with that? Maybe we should all just sit in silent awe every time you offer up another ill-judged opinion.

Step 2: Ignore their arguments and reasons and start calling them pussy and vagina.
When did that happen?

As for 'your arguments', that's putting it pretty generously.

Step 3: Act like a smug tosser.
Classic sense of entitlement. Your opinions aren't special, champ. If you publish them, you should accept that they can be questioned and disagreed with. Again, if you can't handle that, maybe you should play it safe and not post them in the first place?

Said a bunch of stuff.

Mate - why are you treating a board about the Australian Cricket Team like it's Bay 13?

You're coming across like a real w*nker.

It's fine to disagree - it's just opinions and neither of you can be "right". Just be a bit respectful, FFS.

Some opinions can be less sensible than others. If someone is backing a guy to come from a mile back to open in the next Ashes, I think that's worth questioning. He'll need to score a shitload of runs next season after not doing much this season.

And if "it's fine to disagree", like you say, then what's the problem?

I note the way you resort to name-calling, right before asking me to be "respectful". It's hard to argue with that.

Because it had descended far beyond any sensible disagreement.

You can have a rational discussion that doesn't turn any reasonable reader off the whole thread. You were vitriolic in your attacks on a completely subjective opinion. Neither of you could be right, so to make such hostile attacks seems petty and completely out of scale with the question being discussed.

I feel I have been respectful towards you, and think that you've provided ample evidence in this thread for me to make a call that you've been acting like a w*nker.

I disagree. Is that allowed?

You were vitriolic in your attacks on a completely subjective opinion.
Which part constituted vitriol?

Neither of you could be right, so to make such hostile attacks seems petty and completely out of scale with the question being discussed.
Maybe in your view. In mine, I think it's perfectly reasonable to question how Maddinson is going to force his way into the Test side by next year.

How is name-calling respectful?

You can't have it both ways, champ.

Who and when are our next series between now and the next Ashes?
Pakistan in the UAE (2 tests), India home, New Zealand after CWC, West Indies in West Indies iirc

Cheers. I think Maxwell might come into the team for the Pakistan series if he keeps this form up. I'm sure the selectors have almost had enough of Watsons injuries and patchy form and Maxwells offies should suit over there. I don't think Marsh will do enough to keep his spot after this series.

Maxwell's not going to get a game if he gets out reverse sweeping balls going down leg

Just direct me to my posts where I said my opinions are "special" or that people should "sit in silent awe" when I say something.

I reckon Maddinson has the game for test cricket. That's such a special opinion, sit in awe, tosser.

How he would beat out Voges and North as a back up bat who can whirl down a few spinners is beyond me.

He needs all the shield cricket he can get though, his game needs to keep growing

They wouldn't even keep Voges in the one day team though his record was good. I'd be surprised if he's anywhere near a test cap, after all, from WA they picked Shaun Marsh out of the WA line-up and he was least in form. North and Voges must be out of the picture given that.

Lehmann reckons all three of Rogers, Haddin and Harris can go through to the 2015 Ashes.

All have expressed an interest in going on to 2015, Rogers and Harris hopeful of Ashes berths while Haddin has set himself the goal of being part of a winning World Cup team at home earlier in the year. Lehmann has shown little tendency to shuffle his teams on the basis of age, and indicated that all three can make it to the Ashes provided they continue to churn out runs, wickets and dismissals. "If they're playing well they'll play," he said. "If they're not they wont. It's pretty simple."
I like Lehmann's willingness to get on the front foot and make a statement, but I wonder if it will happen like that.

It is only about 15 months away so it is not impossible. But on the other hand do we really want to end up in the position where all of Rogers, Haddin, Harris, Johnson and Clarke might retire at around the same time?

I'm not too worried about that.

But I reckon Harris is one setback away from retirement. Obviously form is no issue but how long do injury-prone 35-year-old pacemen kick on for?

Rogers and Haddin are both in the best XI at the moment. But they're also 36. At that age, the end can't be far off. Good luck to both of them but let's keep it real.

Take Rogers, for example. He's justified the faith placed in him by the selectors who decided to recall him. But it's not like he's been killing it either. Since coming back into the team for the Ashes, he's averaged a solid 40. So, like I said, that's good enough to keep him there for now. But does he have the runs on the board to survive a lean series? Does he have the runs on the board to keep Phil Hughes out of the team?

I'd like to think that Watson is in some danger sooner rather than later. Having Johnson bowl 34 overs in the last innings, when avoiding that is precisely the reason why they want an extra bowler, is daft and it's because Watto is made of glass. I've never seen so clearly how his physical issues could impede the team.
