As a supporter which Preliminry Final loss would you prefer?

Western Bulldogs - heartbreaking, absolutely tearing you guts out, but gallant - a real indication that you aren't that far off it and your boys had a real crack. But a genuine flag opportunity has been wasted!

Collingwood - embarrassing. Never in it and along with another ordinary efforts against the other PF loser in Round 22, and the other Grand Finallist in the first week of finals, proof that you were only making up numbers. Better off out of it.

As a North fan I'd go with the Collingwood loss. I think back to the after the siren loss in '94 against Geelong and still want to punch something in frustratuion. But the 2007 flogging against Port doesn't faze me much as we did well just to get that far and would have copped a similar smashing the next week.

Tough call.
I'm proud of our effort but absolutely f*ckin' gutted.
Had we have not made the prelim last year I'd take a close loss that shows your not far off but since we did I think i'd take a hiding so you don't have what if's.
That said 97 hurts heaps more than 98.

It's definitely a tough choice to make, although I suppose it depends on where your club is at. If the club was looking like a good chance to make the Grand Final, then a close heart-breaker would feel more fitting, create more resolve amongst the playing group, really set up next year. However, if the club was lucky to make the prelim... well, then you'd not want to change from thinking you're no chance to being utterly devastated at only just missing out.

Yeah, tough call.

Logically you'd want it to be close, as it is an indication that your team is ok.

For some reason the beltings dont hurt as much, I remember mentioning it during the 2003 GF loss. There are no "what if?" moments.

I'd take our loss. I mean I cried 3 times, but at the end of the day tonight's game wasn't even like a prelim. Hardly any emotion at the end of the game because it was over so early on in the piece.
Absolutely.

Collingwood showed they have no heart compared to the Bulldogs this year. Woeful team performance.

Showed a lot of heart last week against the crows so thats an odd statement, i think we were just out classed by more experienced players.

As someone said, too many passengers from the older brigade coupled with about 5 or 6 young guys is never going to help you beat a top side like geelong.

I'd rather a close one.
Even though they hurt more at least the game is in the balance right up till the end.
I hated sitting there tonight knowing it was over at 3/4 time.

that said
i'm still shattered and i still cried, plus i'll be devastated for the whole of next week.

Obviously the close loss because it gives me hope that the team could possibly improve next year and go all the way. Now you're left wondering exactly how far away you are from the top teams after a loss like tonight's.

I guess we're all after respect though. The Dogs will go through the summer with it, the Pies with much less than they wanted. North's achievement of making the '07 Prelim was fantastic, but largely discredited because of the shyte effort once we actually had to play the game.

The title is Prelim loss.

A week is a long time in footy.

sounded like you were saying we had no heart all year, one game doesnt make a year.

no such thing as gallant losses eitheir , loss is a loss.

Too many tortuous 'what if's' in tight ones so have to go with the Pies in this poll...even with the humiliation factor!

Having experienced both varieties recently, I very much prefer to see my team fight it out to the last second and be able to look the competition in the eye, rather than the meek, embarassing surrender I witnessed tonight.

Makes it easier to come back onto bigfooty but that's about it.
