you can read all about what happened in Tuesdays Pastoral Times, including the thoughts of the coach, and on the Mathoura footy club web page but I am not going to put it on here
I actually read that article PP and I beleve the Mathoura coach was very professional in the interview and all credit to him on a very dissapointing situation. Do you know if the full foward actually kicked the goal that the coach mentioned in the paper? He has kicked a lot of goals in his time and you would think he would know if he kicked it.

Interesting news about Hay wanting to join the NW comp.

I really do feel sorry for them. Especially when they play most of the teams in cricket. The travel they are already doing is out of control. One extra trip away for the clubs in the NW couldn't be that bad could it?
Anyone one know where there club stands on the matter?

Say if Hay was to join the NW, would a team be willing to join the SE comp?

I'm not involved with Berrigan as much as i used to but i know that when Hay was mentioned last time there was alot of not happy players with the suggestion of traveling all the way up there. It's one boring drive.

From where i was it was hard to say,Ezy thought it went thru but a couple of the 2's boys said it wasn't .As for the paper story, all I want to say is, we cant use umpires as an ongoing excuse, lets move on:thumbsu:

Speaking to some Katunga players a couple of weeks ago, they've had no luck but are still agree that the SE comp is a better fit as it is better footy. Making two 9 team comps would be great. But that's up to the NW teams to decide...

disappointing result today,Berrigan just getting over us.Very ORDINARY umpiring decisions costing us:thumbsdown:

An amazing backflip ??

Pretty sure the score book says Berrigan won ?

Can't see many clubs supporting any changes with the current NW SE league set-ups, as from what you hear, most appear to think it has worked out very good ?

Interestingly, rumours are that Leitchville - Gunbower are also looking into a move of leagues for season 2010 ?

Fair point, but the way I read the article I don't think anyone was using the umps as an excuse more disappointed in the way the situation was handled. :)

The hard part about Hay joining the comp is the junior footy it makes it a very long day for the kids getting up early to travel and then getting home very late if the parents like to watch the seniors, which you probably would if you were travelling all that way.:thumbsu:

probably made first comment too soon after result but we all make mistakes, but only some admit to them

Yeah I understand. Its a very big day for the kids, but it's only once a year, twice if unlucky. They are prepared to do it every 2nd week.

What makes you think the footy is better??? The players? The teams? The scores? or going on last years results? Is that your opinoin or the Katunga boys? Just interested thats all.

Cheers:thumbsu:

Well how many sides in the NW comp would make the top four or five if everyone was in the same league do you think? Maybe one Deni, but they would sit fourth or fifth.
That's my opinion.

I do respect both comps, but the fact of the matter is that the sides in the SE have been the power sides over the last 15 years and have won the bulk of the silver over that time.

I also think that through splitting each club is stronger in its own right, they have been able to recruit better players due to the groupings being more appealling for potential recruits.

What are you making you opinion on??? Have you seen both comps play?? I can't say, mainly due to the fact I haven't seen any SE games. I spose it's an issue we'll never really know, like I Want Flags said before the clubs have been able to draw better players to bulid their list's...... So this can go on and on and on etc.

Cheers:thumbsu:

Good to see a couple of Dookie premiership players pulling the jumper back on for the club this weekend in a bid for the club to snag another flag.
All the best Luke Lebrocq and Dale Baulch!
Carn Dooks!

They may need more than that to snag the falg..! In the ones and the poo's.

I will guarantee the SE comp is stronger than the NW comp, pure fact. I think us & Jerilderie would be quite competitive in the SE League, but the Katandras & Tungamahs would be too strong for us. They proved this last year and I don’t think a great deal has changed with our side this year, obviously Jerilderie have recruited well, but not well enough to beat the better teams in the SE comp.

The SE comp has a bit more depth too, but I actually believe the NW comp might be a bit more competitive in terms of the closeness of the comp. In the NW I think there are probably 5 sides who on their day can win the flag. Not sure if there would be this sort of closeness in the SE comp? Maybe Tunga the stand out and POSSIBLY Katandra or Shepp to challenge???

All that said, they should probably look into an interleague game between the 2 comps.

Well you take a junior bus up there for 1 game a year and it comes home at the end of the 2nd's like all the clubs in the GRFL are doing at the moment. Spare a thought for the Hay-Nullawil game 4 hour trip one way. The longest trip in all victoria country football leagues. But i'm sure Hay is just too far for all you NW teams to travel.

Why travel if you don't have to and Yes you are right Hay is just too far.

Mathoura v Blighty

The Timbercutters looked gone at half time, were just simply outplayed by Blighty. Probably one of the best last quarters so far this year, Mathoura came back and overrun Blighty during the quarter and eventually won by a couple of goals. The boys have some fight in them coming back from 5 goals down this week, and almost last week.

With Jake Sprunt injured and Derek Hall unavailable, Katandra Seniors took to the field today with 21/21 players being Katandra 3rds products! Had a good win over Waaia too.

Good win by the bulldogs yesterday a fair 4 quarter effort. bit disappointed by the berrigan boys not coming into the rooms for a beer or 2. thought that was piss poor on their behalf unless of course they had a decent reason. anyone from berrigan care to share what the go was??

Any news on the venue of this years SE grand final and on how the surface is coming along? Was in very poor condition a couple of weeks back. Will it come up? What happens if we get back to some wet weather??

Nearly at the end of the season... thoughts on who will win the league best and fairest this year?
And just out of curiosity, thoughts on who the best coach is?
