All this crap about how dirty Shepp East are and that they are a disgrace is utter bulldust. First of all you can't hang a whole club on Gillespie's undisciplined acts. I was at the game and didn't see anything that you don't see every day at the footy apart from a couple of Gillespies indiscretions. The game was in the balance at half time and he actually swung the momentum into Katandra's favour. At three quarter time I honestly thought that Shepp East would getup given they kicked 7 goals in the second quarter with the wind. But to Katandra's credit they came out firing in the last and Shepp East went to water and gave away alot of frees and 50's, none that were reportable or even close. Katandra deserved the win but Shepp East don't deserve to get rubbished as a club because of 1 blokes efforts.

To say that Shepp East are undisciplined? I would definitely agree with you and it is something they will need to sort out as a team, but to say they are disgraceful is going a bit over board. I have watched them a lot this year and think they have the players to win this comp, and they still could, if they can control their aggression towards the ball they will be hard to beat.

It's not just shepp easts undiscipline acts however. the way some of there players walked off the ground after the game without shaking our hands.. while telling the other players who were doing it to stop..
and the amount of disresect that the shepp east players is show is not something you want to see in this league and its not just something they were doing yesterday, theyv'e done it all year... they have foul mouths and when it came down to the crunch what really won it for katandra is that we were all playing for the jumper, while shepp east, they were just worried that they got the pay cheque at the end of the day..

I noticed there seemed to be a few more faces on the bench yesterday is there friction between the twos coach and seniors coach.
Not that I am aware of I beleive they get along quite well and if they don't get long they certainly put up a united front !
I don't think its fair to lay blame, but the changes made appeared to unsettle the side and may have cost the side the game.

Noticed there was one guy missing on the bench that has done a really good job helping the two's coach all year, I think his name is Andy someone, was he away or did the senior coach just take over the reins.

Andy was not able to be there and the senior coach was asked by the reserves coach to assist on game day.

This issue comes up every year with Seniors 'dropping' down to Reserves for finals. I am a believer that the best team possible should be on the park.

The current rule of 9 or 10 Senior games locking you out of Reserves needs to be looked at closely. You'd expect every player who plays Reserves finals to have at least played a game through the year.

They are talking of this on the MFL thread, with Senior League medallist Daryl Harrison and Dan Collyer able to play 2s finals for Tonny. So it is not just us!

Come up with a solution!

The solutiuon could be that players must have played at least half of their games with the club during that year in the reserves.

Good to see Berrigan come back from being down at half time against Strathy to secure a gutsy win.:D
Strathy held the lead with accurate goal kicking, while Berrigan struggled to convert. The game improved from half time with the lead changing several times in the last quarter. It was a very exciting end to the game, with Berrigan getting home by 10 points.

Cheers probably would have been better if he could have run the bench as he would have known the players watching them all year, do you think?
To say that would be being speculative and unfair to him and probably the guy that was asked to replace him.
The general feeling I've had from the playing group is that they are more dissappointed in the unwelcomed and unasked input that was provided for the first time this last week.

Might be a interesting week, with a serious head injury requiring surgery from what appeared a non accidental incident and have been told an overage player may have wrongly taken part in a underage final on the weekend ??

Wouldnt Mitch have been involved with the twos in some form all year so there shouldnt have been anyone dissapointed with his input

couldnt have said that better myself, shep east are just a pack of dirty pricks. probly doesnt help when they have the crowd that they do. just egging on fights, even in thirds. i can see shepp east falling in a hole. money can buy players but it cant buy a good footy environment, which is what keeps people at the club.

wouldnt mind knowing who is on the big bucks out at shepp east hank? name them? from what i know most of the players that went out their are not on nearly as much as what you are indicating and about at least half the side on the weekend dont get paid a cent.

wasnt just gillespie there was frappel, osbourne, foley, jonse palmer just to name a few others from what i saw of the game mainly all behind play..and why do you say at the start of your post that its utter bulldust that they are dirty than later on say that you definatly agree they are undisciplined??

That would be tough i feel. How are injuired or out of form players suppose to get back into the senior side. Take Rovers as an example. We have a senior player that has only played 8 games due to injuiry. He hasnt played a reserves game through out the season but was available to play in the first week of the finals after missing the last 6 games. How could he prove his fitness and form warrants a senior game if he cannot play reserves. The current rules are not perfect but no matter what the ruling someone will always something to complain about.

I totally agree C Mac it isnt perfect but it works Credit on Sunday has to go to Jerilderie they were the better team on the day and it was only 3 points so from what i saw both teams were having a go Mathoura made more mistakes and Jerilderie capitalised you cant blame the bench for that. If you look at the results between the two teams all year they were always close and from where Mathoura were last year they have come along way and should be around abouts again so they should be dissapointed from the weekend but happy overall

I'd personally like to see the rule change to ensure that all players in reserves finals have played at least one reserve game in that home & away season. The 10 senior game disqualification rule should still apply.
--------
I was involved in a club last year that relied on players doubling up (1s & 2s) all year, on the opening week of the finals the 2s played Saturday and 1s on Sunday. We had to seek special permission to allow our reserves players to double up, even though they had played a full game the day before.
-------

Always an argument that causes a bit of friction at this time of year!

It might be just me but I have seen many reserves sides that have their seniors playing after them beat sides that are 'stacked'. This is a pattern in recent PDFL grand finals.

Reserve Premiers with Seniors playing in Grand Final
2008 - Tungamah
2007 - Katandra
2006 - Shepp East

So there is weight to the argument of playing the 'regular' players in the finals, after all they are the ones who got you there.

tungamah won the seniors gf aswell so why would you think they stacked em in?

I think that is a good idea but only when the ones are out(obviously). So from the weekend NW twos it would have only been Buckley who couldnt play and as Peter Perfect said he was conflicted himself.

yeh and dont forgot brodie jacques hit on teaguey. sure you would have to have someone always on his (teaguey) tail but to clean him up 3 seconds after he marked it was just plain dirty. and like premiers07 said, its not just their physical acts, you could tell they didnt really want to play in the 3rd quarter. if we cant win, we might as well play dirty, right shep east?
