They have 45 friggen points plus concessions for Christ sake do you really think points are going to be a issue for them , or do you ever think they are going to be screwed down ?
Whoever told you mid 40's needs to speak Martin Gleeson , because he couldn't answer that exact question not so long ago .
You might want to also speak to a board member close to you because he was a meeting where it was stated the points system would be nation wide .

Havent SA adopted the system including a salary cap as well?
Surely AFL NSW wont be far behind you would think.

It is completely different .
Also I think you need to understand the variations in leagues . I can't recall where but read that it is anticipated community clubs in the bendigo region will be operating with a Salary cap of $135k in 2017 which means many clubs will have to cut their spending by $65k . Budgets of $200k FFS .
I still don't understand why PDFNL clubs should be capped for the standard they can reach . Based on what you hear about other local leagues $$$'s issues and also consider local talent that is making elite squads I see absolutely no reason why a competition should be restricted as to the level it should get to .
Why should a external body be able to cap the level a league can reach ?
The league would appear in a super strong position and well equiped to put researches in place to make significant impact on improving the bottom end .
Things such as a full time JDO , league supplied match day secretaries , which are about to be advertised .
Don't undersell how good of a state the league is in and how good it can became .

Wow 200K thats ridiculous (unless your Barooga ;)) I agree with what you are saying in regards to capping talent. I think you are missing the point that I am not arguing that the system is perfect, or even that its the best outcome for us. To me its a double edged sword. My main point all along, and what I see as the Elephant in the room is the massive potential damage that can be done if we don't adopt the system and our players are awarded 1 point. Its obvious we have differing opinions on this point, thats fine. Time will tell how hard other leagues will go between November 30 and June 30 to recruit our players.

Far from it my one and only motivation is the PDFNL and that stems from a. playing in the league since I was 9 b. coaching u14s, under 17s and assisting in senior grades. c. coaching PDFNL junior inter league sides d.being a hard working club president. So be very careful before you question my motives.

You and roar seem to take every opinion different to yours as a personal insult or in some way to have some underhanded alterer motive.

AFL need to do some work to the system, work that could have been addressed if all information was passed onto clubs earlier in the year, giving clubs time to disscuss it properly and give AFL feedback. Unfortunately that information wasn't made available.

Haha ok I'll use your logic!! Given defensiveness of your reply and fairly threatening you really have got me wondering? o_O

we are both fighting for same cause. I see your concerned looks like mainly about marquee players fair enough. Im far more concerned about juniors. Very concerned.

regardless of points good players will be targeted anyway. Especially Strathy after winning the flag?? We both know that's how it is yeah? But I see more damage in juniors.

We agree it's far from perfect and AFLVic were pretty behind with having detail sorted. i was told by an Aflgm commissioner only a couple months back he thought points would be generous to get people used to it. To me that's stupid hold up and get detail right give clubs plenty of notice of points allocated then do it properly. Just my opinion.

If they try that bullying technique I think every club should back the league and smack them good and proper.

And we agree on Barooga. I think this is actually all their fault.

Points not likely to have any affect for years 3-4 at least , by then many think this system will be long gone .
As much as there is a likelihood of other leagues targeting PDFNL players , whilst sitting out of it. PDFNL clubs will be attractive to premier league players who carry additional points and are likely to miss playing senior footy because they carry extra points .
Actually currently re reading a review from 2004 , after the last attempt of a salary cap .
So many similarities it is not funny , same aims same mistakes and it was thrown out because it had no positive impact.

Bit harsh on Barooga club has not won a flag since 1997, blame Albury, Horsham and South Barwon, yet this year clubs like Benalla, St Marys geelong, Merrigum won first flag in umpteen years, and in KDFL 8th premier in 10 years, have a look at CMFL, eg K/Barham spends $200k has had point system in and Kerang wins 3rd flag in row because has big budget and can get kids back from uni each year, size and juniors do matter

I'm hearing Mikal Bloom, a former Hume league medalist and Brad Collins, former Vfl listed player both to strathy. The doggies will be very hard to beat again!

Bloom is from albury way, but where is collins from/been playing. And how many are strathy loosing. What other clubs have picked up or lost players so far.

They are both based in Melbourne now. Collins played in a flag at sea lake nandaly this year. At this stage lee James retiring and oconnor to Yarra and they won't see much of Louie pinnuck with bushies.
