My point proven....
'My club' has at no point disputed the outcome. Every poster on here including leauge presidents and opositions senior coaches has gratiously expressed their simpathay with what these players are going though. No one except you has taken any pleasure in the situation. But hey if thats the sort of person you are? Go ahead!

I don't care what other posters think whether they be league presidents, opposition coaches or anyone.

Your club played a player who had not played one single reserves game all season. I hate it when this happens in reserves football I have sat with way to many shattered players who sadly were dropped by such scenarios. I am not saying that happened here but its the principal of it. In fact I did speak with one such player from a different club where this exact thing happened last weekend he was shattered and angry. I just walked away thinking clubs whinge and moan about lack of player loyalty but when they make these decisions they expect players to just suck it up.

So in short I have no sympathy for this SITUATION. I most certainly feel very sorry for the loyal ressie players who have missed out. I respect your club immensely for owning up.

But I will not in any way shape or form be sympathic for the end result based on the circumstances.

I hope other clubs think long and hard next time faced with this decision. But then again for some winning is everything that's just not how I personally view Reserves football.

Haha this wasn't about winning the game. If this was the case we would have played the 3-4 other senior players that were eligible. The player has been injured and need some touch before the senior game this week.
If rules are rules why did Deni get permission to play a guy that had only played 3 club games?

Having now only 4 players on the bench in 2nds finals is going to hurt clubs.. it should stand as it was, one team has the same as the opposition on bench, its fair enough in seniors for players to get dropped cause they can always play 2nds, but getting dropped from 2nds there is nowhere to go and not being able to play in finals when you have been part of the team even if its been on the bench for most of the year is disappointing and not only hurts the club but it really hurts the individual player who gets dropped... And a club should not have to put someone through that..

What part of my post where I said "I don't know if that is the case here" did you miss? I take your word on that though but hope no ressie player missed out. I hope you respect my opinion on that.

I'm not with Deni rovers if that is your point so I have no idea what you are talking about. Fill me in and I'll give an opinion.

Rules are rules. would people be so sympathetic if the score line had been two goals difference? You have to go by the rules.

lucky you had that one week of finals to get him into form but is that what reserves finals footy should be about?? Either way it's not really right IMO.

Yeah I agree if both have equal. But not all clubs have equal so we have these scenarios anyway. But your post indicates you understand the pain of it though.

But this has been going on for a long time.
I understand the dropping senior players. But Geez I think players perhaps at some point need to be asked to make the decision to back themselves in to chase a senior spot with no guarantee of playing twos in finals if they don't make it.
I know there is no easy answer but it's my pet hate!!! For some of these players it might be there only time ever if playing finals and would mean the world to them.

The rules do state that is permissible for clubs to ask permission for exemption of the 4 game rule due to exceptional circumstances , which I believe has happened reasonably often before .
From what I know this was not a deni v strathy matter , nor was it a case of Deni wanting to actually get the opportunity to play this week or strathy to miss out .
It is a shit circumstance , but one club blaming another might be mis directed frustration . It would appear no club is guilty of intentional wrong doing, just one of those unintentional frustrating circumstances .

I don't think it was the Deni blokes that picked it up. They didn't find out until 8.30 last night.
Very disappointing for the Strathy 2nds as they were probably the in form side. I know rules are rules but perhaps some discretion in cases like this wouldn't be the worst result. It is only country footy. No winners anywhere in this type of situation.
To many games is playing a ineligible player and rightfully or wrongly comes under the same ruling as playing a bloke who isn't cleared , registered to another club or hasn't played any games for the season etc etc .
Any other outcome would have been completely contrary to the rules and overruled if challenged and/or by the AFL .

Perhaps the previous understanding was outside afl vic rules , can't say I've seen other leagues with more than 4 on the bench . Maybe it was brought in to avoid a shit fight in finals yet allowing more to remain involved during the season where a game result being contested and lost would have a lesser affect ?

EFL down in town allows 6 on the pine in ressies roar. 8 for vets.
Vafa club 18 allows 8 on the bench

As my understanding is that if clubs agree on the number on the bench, then it isn't a problem.
I have played finals against Waaia and tungumah with 8 on the bench in the reserves as both team had excess players and it was agreed to before the thursday when teams were selected.
Unsure about having less then 4 and the opposition matching it. Usually when team are heading onto finals, everyone is coming out of the woodwork.
Does anyone know the rule? Because I'm just going off previous experience.

Anyone get to the game on Saturday and have a few comments? Wasn't expecting to see such a one sided results in the seniors.

Just taken a peak at the venue for tommorrows GF's looks fantastic with a large contingent of council and club staff present .
Set for a massive day of football and netball .
They worked hard to get it ,a year late hope it's a great day and a former murray league team preferably south of the border takes the big prize

Great game of footy. Geez From the sidelines it look like Avard didn't want to be out there

I and many others I spoke to thought Avard was BOG .
Who did get it? First time I had seen him play all year. Was around the ball plenty. But didnt look interested. The strathy ruck was much better. We must of spoken to different people. Everyone I spoke to shared the same thoughts as I. I was on the opposite side of the ground from the club rooms. How does he normally go with the ball at ground level? Thought he was average at best
