Davis didn't fail in the gf against the cats. IMO he was one of our better players that game. He got a finished with 20 possessions and 11 tackles Only the first two goals by Varcoe Dais gave away, he was solid the rest of the game. And another draftee we have now could replace Caff so i'd rather Davis a star for another year than a fringe player who is a little above average at best for the next 7-8 years.

Fair enough, thats your opiniion. I'm not connvinced he'd had backed up in 2012.

Personally I dont see why we couldnt have kept both anyway . 250k for his final year was nothing to sneeze at. Better than retirement.

A draftee has replaced Leon Davis. Marley Williams looks the goods.

It's too easily forgotten (or ignored) that Leon had just completed a3 year contract worth upwards of $350,000 a year, for which he had barely delivered in the first 2 years. It wasn't until the third year when moved to the back line that he earned that money.

In my opinion, he really owed the club then if he wanted to play he should have played on for the $250,000 offered. The problem for him was that he had already planned for it to be his last year before heading home. No doubt he probably thought during the year that he would be going home a premiership hero.

I think it was only the fact that he had a great year along with the fact that we didn't win the flag that tempted him to perhaps stay. I think he was only going to be tempted by bucket loads of cash.

Compare that to Taz who nearly played for free just to have another chance to win one.

Nailed it.

2009 he was an in the AA so there is no arguing he delivered that year and in 2010 he kicked 27 goals which is nothing to snarl at.

Caff is not a fringe player. Far from it.

I know but i wouldn't be surprised if one of those guys replaces him. I have him in my round one team but after that I'm not sure.
That makes absolutely no sense.

If they were to replace Caff, it would be in the midfield. And not on the wing either, in the centre. And suggesting that happens, they would have to be in the top 50 midfielders in the game, to replace Caff, who usually tags anywhere from the best to 3rd best midfielder of the opposition team.

I can see him easily replaced by Kennedy, Broomhead or Freeman.

If he stays fit Caff could well play every game. IMO he will take another pick step forward this year.

Not really, First of all Caff dosen't always tag in the middle sometimes he tags outside the square and secondly, if Caff is out that means we just give Beams, Swan, Pendlebury, Ball and Thomas more midfield time and have Kennedy, Boomhead or Freeman in the forward line and pinch hit in the middle. Caff might be the third best tagger but is that really enough to get him a game every week?

Without knowing the statistics, it would make logical sense that he predominantly tags inside the middle. Or look at it this way, he certainly won't be tagging a winger.

With rules meaning there is going to be less interchanges and more time on the field, you want to give our main midfielders more time in the midfield? Makes no sense.

And who's to say Kennedy, 10 or so games, and didn't really show much in the midfield, Freeman 0 games, Broomhead 0 games, will do more than what Macaffer can do in the midfield?

Caff starts the center bounce outside the square and than comes in to tag, that's what i meant. Not all of those guys i mentioned will get more midfield time. I'm expecting the likes of Adams and Thomas more time in the midfield. That way our main mids still get a rest and caffs one midfield spot is covered. Caff may be the third best tagger but third is way down list of first. Caffer is a good tagger at best not a great tagger. I think Caff will play the majority of the games this year but i wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Kennedy Broomhead or Freeman replace him. And i certainly think Caff is behind Thomas and Adams.

Caff might be a good tagger but his pretty one dimensional. We have better options as a medium forward eg. Elliot, Fasolo and we have better attacking midfield options like Adams and Thomas.

What does that have to do with Caff, who probably wouldn't play any of those roles?

Maccaffer played barely any games in 2011 so if he was delisted it wouldn't of been a big deal.
Macaffer was injured for all of 2011. Played two early games and two late in the year before we put him in cotton wool.

Or should we have also delisted Luke Ball after he only played 3 games in 2012? Toovey after just five last year? Josh Thomas for not getting on the park in his first four years.

Idiotic post.

Maybe try this one on for size. Macaffer played in two Grand Finals in 2010, and his performances in both were better than anything Davis managed in his four. Probably combined.

Davis' direct bloody opponent kicked the opening two goals in 2011 for ****'s sake.

Caff finished sixth in the 2013 Copeland.

Not often a top ten Copeland finisher gets superceded by a first or second year player.

Luke Ball is allot better than caff.

To say Macaffer isn't best 22 is a joke does his job consistently, a very good finals performer. Absolute workhorse and has worked himself up from the rookie list while battling injuries, cant help but to respect that. I just hope we can get him 100 games for F&S purposes. He's also working on his ball winning ability to mould his game after Lingy. Macaffer hopefully to play another 20+ games.

Ling is a very good comparison. Hes nowhere near it yet but has all the attributes.
