Geelong lost Ablett and Bomber and went on to win the flag. Hawthorn lost Buddy.

Perhaps it was the culture of the pies that Buckley inherited that was the problem. As you said they are professionals and should have been able to deal with it. Other clubs did

Show me the players that left who were pushed out or didnt want to play under the new coach.

So, after reading a few stats from last nights game, 2 really stand out to me.
Both of our defensive forwards in Blair and Goldsack had 3 tackles each, and contributed a grand total of 1 goal combined.
That's very disappointing when that is basically why you are getting a game.

Thats been happening for years, and the coach loves them for it. Says a lot really

For $700 k/pa? Pass

I don't smell "Premiership player"

Might be a useful backup to Grundy and Witts.

Harry O moved on and became Heritier Lumumba.

Don't smell premierships there either!

Yeah, I'll give you that one.

How did we become so unfit in 2013?
Pfft what would you rather use the 700k on? Leave it sitting there for guys like Keeffe and Sinclair to get their hands on later? Varcoe? The amount should never be discussed unless we can't afford to keep the team together which happened with one guy Leon Davis.

So which player who left said he didn't want to play under Buckley. Yes you can make this claim, but it is pure conjecture.

The only ones pushed were Dawes, Shaw and Harry. The only one I would want out of them is Shaw.

No, that money has gone to recruit talent like white, young and varcoe. Also to keep goldsack. money well spent?

Fair point. But also remember that Collingwood also believed that Daisy's ankle wouldn't hold up (Buckley said that). If that had eventuated, and The club had locked itself into spending $700000 p/a over 4 years then they would have been crucified.

Who knows, it might have simply been a case of Carltons doctors were better than ours at the time.

Did they believe that? Or was that just spin because they didnt want him because he clearly had issues with buckley.

Anyway, our diagnosis of foot injuries is poor to say the least, just ask steve johnson

just watching the gws syd game. Our young talent isnt a shadow of that at GWS.
Highlights the very questionable strategy to restructure the list from 2012.
Bottom 4 isn't an unreasonable estimate of where we end up this year given our trajectory over the last 3 years and the fact we have been smashed by WB who i think will be bottom 4 and well beaten by the Blues who i dearly hope finish bottom 4.(albeit that game was played by approx 60 percent of the 2 teams best 22)
Our ball movement is predictable and poor, and our recent recruiting has to be questioned given we have been recruiting player types we already have in abundance ( poor kicks of the football). I love G'wood and Adam's attack on the pill but both are very poor disposers of the footy. Varcoe a poor kick and has so far displayed a reluctance to put his body over the ball. When you look at Heater Beams and Harry as the 3 we lost to these inclusions our disposal stats have to fall away , and on current 2015 showing they have.
Compare that to the hawks recruiting for specific types they lack and gee we look amateur by comparison.

Our young talent is either untested or has some pretty big question marks given those we havent seen and those we have over the last few years don't look even close to A grade potential. For reference take a look at Pendles or Thomas in year 2 and 3 of their careers
Fasolo might fall the way of Marty Clarke where the increase in the speed of the game over the 2 years he has missed are making him look outdated given his lack of foot speed.
We cant hope to match other fwd lines carrying Goldy and Blair in the same fwd line, as they dont kick enough goal( albeit again i love them and cannot question their commitment to the footy and the Pies)
We

I don't have much to say at this time of year. Some might unkindly suggest that I don't have much to say at anytime of the year. But while I have no intention of launching into another defence of Dawes, I get tired of reading that he has no more to offer than White. Structurally alone he has plenty more to offer than White, so please at least try to be objective when you write of the worth of past players in attempting to defend the mediocrity that this club has become.

That's fair but it is also rich to claim him as a star when he is a B grader at best.

I genuinely believe that Gary Pert was being sincere when he said in the weeks leading up to the trade that he expected Collingwood to be able to retain Dale Thomas' services.

If Collingwood were happy to let him go, then why did Carlton need to pay so much for him?

Wellingham wanted out
Beams wanted out
Thomas wanted out

Yes and all had good reasons, but none have said that one of those reasons was Buckley. That is pure conjecture and therefore has no validity in this discussion.

I can make up any old bullshit to support my argument, but it is still bullshit. Beams and Wellingham went home. Thomas went for the money and MM.

Many players from other clubs go home, others change clubs for money. Don't blame Bucks for every player who left. pure bullshit conjecture.

Because he is MM Love Child;)

Well i think they always knew thomas was going, maybe they wanted to carlton to pay that bit more for him. Maybe MM was looking after him by suggesting carlton pay that. Who knows

U do make up bullshit by saying buckley could hav won 2010,11 premierships. U say injuries are the reason.

Beams had his nose out of joint the moment buckley traded shaw.
Thomas clearly doesnt like buckley
Wellingham, would he hav left if his mates at the club didnt leave?

So when Bucks came in. He destroyed the Team’s Culture?

I have never claimed he is a star. He was structurally important, more reliable than White as support to Cloke and played an important role in our premiership win. As you say a B grader at best. Just get sick of reading how White is either as good or an improvement on him because he absolutely is neither.
