Pies will go all the way

This thread makes me laugh. I'll definitely be finding it again after we pump those pies.

Just FYI, this piesflag guy is a pretty typical collingwood fan. Just a few weeks ago he was posting threads such as the one below. What a diehard faithful. I wish we could have him over on the Geelong board...

Haha, an attempt at wriggling away by a goose afflicted by the Pedants' Curse.

Wriggling away? I am still here...the fact remains that u had to put your 2 cents in a thread that doesnt even involve your teams, just cos it makes u feel intelligent and powerful - a real Keyboard Warrior...

I reckon the 9 AA players was a ploy by the AFL to gift the flag to the Pies. They know that they stand to make more money if the biggest club in Melbourne (the Pies) win the '07 Premiership than if a small club from a rural town wins it.

So you're admitting the only chance you guys have is if the AFL give it to you?

They're doing all they can to help us because they know that it would be more beneficial to the game and to Melbourne as a whole if the biggest club won.

PiesFlag, still waiting on your comment on the thread that was linked to in a post above - started by you 3 less than 3 weeks ago. Saying the Pies season was finished, they werent good enough, nobody can hit a target, etc..

Can't blame the Collingwood supporters for being confident, they're playing some pretty good footy right now, and I can't blame them for being a little ticked off by the AA team .. most non-Geelong people are.

However, as someone who really doesn't care who wins, I'd be mighty surprised if the Pies can pull this one off. Geelong is playing as well as (if not better than) any team I've seen in the past 15 years.

Mythbusters to the rescue:

Collingwoods last 8 games:

v Brisbane (10th) @ MCG: Lost by 93pts

v Carlton (15th) @ MCG: Won by 24pts

v Richmond (16th) @ MCG: Lost by 20pts

v Melbourne (14th) @ MCG: Won by 11pts

v Sydney (7th) @ MCG: Won by 25pts

v Adelaide (8th) @ Dome: Lost by 19pts

v Sydney (7th) @ MCG: Won by 38pts

v West Coast (Completely undermanned) @ Subiaco: Draw

*Games in bold are the less than impressive games.

Compared to Geelong against these teams:

v Brisbane @ Gabba: Won by 42pts

v Carlton @ MCG: Won by 78pts

v Richmond @ SS: Won by 70pts

v Melbourne @ MCG: Won by 52pts

v Sydney @ SS: Won by 18pts

v Adelaide @ SS: Won by 33pts

v West Coast @ SS: Won by 39pts

*Note: Less than impressive game was a win.

Load of BS... the AFL in all its equalisation policies has the agenda that it hopes that each team wins a premiership every 16 years.

Geelong, Melbourne, StKilda are three clubs the AFL hopes to hell wins won soon.

If Geelong win... it will increase their membership further and ignite footy in Geelong a lot more.

Collingwood shmollingwood.... they win I doubt they'll get more than an extra 2000 members next year.... whereas geelong could get an extra 5000.

When Collingwood loses you'll be singing a different tune saying the AFL wanted Geelong to win because so and so and so and so.

What a disgrace. Even though its true.

Making up the numbers and very lucky they met an injury riddle WCE outfit.

They will be slaughtered on Friday - MAKE no mistake!

Please tell us how it will benefit Melbourne?

I know the AFL is losing alot of credibility this year, but this is absurd. Any competition that would structure itself so a certain wins is a farce.

Says the hypocritical toss who picked a bloke up on a small mistake, and in the process stuffed it up himself, and now can't just let it go. :D

Where did your lid go. Seems the players are out celebrating already. Nice work boys. Made it so far, but now you've blown it. You know what? I bet they've been reading bigfooty and it's your fault that they've now blown the lid too. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Have a look at your own post you gumby. Declaring yourselves the winner of the GF already, and you are having a go at a Cats supporter for bookmarking your post. Who has taken the lid off? Pathetic example of a human being. Typical Collingwood one eyed morality again.

I didnt stuff it up at all, i put an "ed" on the end of one word, he put an entirely different word in and made up a bullsh*t story centred on that incorrect word - more than just a small mistake.

If i am the one who cant let it go, why do u keep replying in a thread that has nothing to do with u, when i have already moved on? Oh, I get it, u r one of those blokes who has to get the last word in, it gives u a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, and a stirring in your loins.

My Friends and football followers,

To all the Collingwood supporters carrying on about Geelongs ego, small town syndrom and underachievers.....GET A GRIP!!!

We finished top because we are a skilled and mentally tough unit that players for each other. You must be really excited about Buckleys final game this weekend - it will be sad to see him go out of the game without a premiership!

As for the AA team....which Geelong player would you drop from the 22 to make room for a magpie? Get serious, your team is still batting above their average!

Go Cats!

I heard they contacted Cameron Mooney this morning to see what he thought of his big night out, but he was busy with Nathan and Gary counting how many chickens they had in their egg cartons that they'd bought from Safeway.

That's funny. I saw him over at Kardinia Park walking into training this morning looking very focussed. And not an egg carton in sight. Maybe your intelligence was defective.;)

Actually, its "dont count your chickens before they are hatched", but why let the truth get in the way of a sh*t story...
I would have let this go an hour ago, but you're being so adamant, rather than just admitting that the Pedants' Curse got ya, that it's too amusing :)

Actual saying: "Don’t count your chickens before they hatch"
Your version: "dont count your chickens before they are hatched"

A small error, but don't keep saying you didn't make it. You were a smartass and had a go at someone for "putting an entirely different word in", when you added one yourself too. Funny stuff, pedant.

What a ******* bore. Take this crap to private messages will you, pedant?

Interesting facts:

1. If Collingwood and North win on the weekend the AA team will contain only 1 player from the combined grand final clubs with one not even getting within 40 players of a selection.
2. Until Don Bradman’s last match he batted above his average for all but the very early part of his career.

Celebrating ?? All have given up the turps since about 4 weeks ago, the easily polished off the Roos. They believe.

End of story. Lid is still on, game is still on. Pies will feel the red-hot Cats on Friday night, then they will see who is a real team.

Just because we played well at the beginning of 2006 and have played well throughout 2007 doesn't automatically mean we are getting ahead of ourselves. Since when does winning games = cockyness???

Keep clutching at straws Collingwood.

They were already clutching at straws by chartering a 'low altitude' flight. What a croc.

All civilian jets must fly at a certain level, a thousand or so feet won't make a difference. If so, why didn't they just alter the cabin pressure ??

That would have made more sense.
