So what do AFL supporters do over the off-season? Do you guys follow the cricket? That starts about now, doesn't it? Or do some of you just sort of go away on vacations over the festive season?

I'm heading home to Everett, near Boston in the USA. Get to catch up with the family over Halloween, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah. Then back here in January.

I'm a mad Patriots fan, and will be catching same games over there. Season is just starting. :D Bonus is I get to drag the BF along, who got me into AFL. Hoping to get him into NFL. But he's not sounding very convinced.

Hoping I come back to no crazy off-season scandals. I heard last year there were some pretty crazy things happening with Saint Kilda.

Can I access BigFooty from the USA? Anyone know?

I'm a big sports person. So i'll be into cricket, the american sports like nba & nfl (if they're on free-to-air of course D: ).

After the next 7 weeks or so, I'll be finished school forever. woo! so yeah, i'll probably find a part time job but still have a fair bit of spare time till Uni comes around next year.

I'll be going down to visit relatives in southern country NSW at xmas time too. Going to be a long drive for just me and mum; hopefully I'll have my P's by then. haha

We really need a social board...

There is no "off-season", just "Footy Season" and "Can't Wait for the Footy Season". :D
I might talk to my wife. Hope everyone stays safe and happy, we score some great talent in the draft and/or trading week, and the boys have a great pre-season at training :thumbsu:

Planning on getting smashed up in thailand with the boys, hopefully end up in a bust-up with the local authorities before waking up with a rather sore head and the boys sending photos home of me trying to shake the hang-over

Disclaimer: this is just a tongue in cheek post, and in no way should be taken as a troll. It is only friendly banter, and as such, should not result in any infraction

Seems there are no issues logging in from the States. I dunno. I'm not very computer-literate. Took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to post YouTube videos.

To answer Thermo's question in another thread... I think it was. Maybe exile. I followed NFL before I came to Australia. Although I'm not sure how interested I will be in it after watching a season of AFL. Can only hope I suddenly don't find it too slow and boring. :p

Sorry to say but yes NFL is quite slow. It can be entertaining with a nacho hat, but thats about it. :D

As for off season, I follow the EPL/Champions League (Chelsea), NBA, and Cricket when the footy isn't on. I go for a couple teams in the NBA, Boston, Miami, Portland are my fave teams. Wade my favourite player.

Yeah I think it was me. :)

Ohh cool! I love NFL. Although, I do find it a bit tedious at times. While I like their analysis of the plays and all that, I'd prefer some more actual gametime.

Did you manage to find live coverage for the game, Thermo?

I had to drive into Boston proper to get the GF live at a pub, since my cousins didn't want me watching TV a little after midnight. :p Not that we get great ESPN2 signals anyway. Cool thing about the USA compared to AUS is that there is free WiFi everywhere, so I could connect my phone and type away on the main gameday thread on BF. :D

Any different in Seoul?

It can be a bit tedious compared to AFL, but just being back in the USA has got me excited about it again. Pats are playing a home game next week against the Jets, and am already making plans. :D:D

On a related note, it's funny how beer ads always seem to sponsor football. I remember in Australia it was all about Carlton Draught, being made from beer. In the USA it's all about Coors Light. Wonder if that's the same everywhere?

Found a stream so kicked back and watched it on my MacBook. If that didn't work I know an Aussie bar across town I would have gone to.

By the way free WiFi in Seoul too, love it :D.

Test match cricket is my footy season highlight. However as others have said the NBA is awesome and to an extent the NBL - big basketball fan but big differences in these leagues. Will also be watching the a league a bit more and going to some united games.

It is difficult for me to wind down after the Grand Final. Seems as though
I spend all Summer hunting around different media for televised games and hoping I will get a chance to see my favorite teams play once in awhile.

So MLB and the NFL are still here this time of year to watch and the NBA
just around the corner (we hope).I

I still count the months/days before Footy starts again.
