I personally don't like Cooney as a DT player, although a lot of people are putting him in their teams - good luck to them :)

So that leaves Vince or Thompson. Now I like both these players because they score points in a large variety of ways - both mark, kick goals occasionally and tackle. With 20k difference I can't really split them and suggest going with your gut.

On one hand "natural progression" might give you more value out of Vince, on the other, he may cop the main tag (did he last year? I know Thompson has struggled with taggers in the past but not sure on Vince).

**

My turn (hopefully a tricky one for you):

Selwood (Joel) & Harvey OR Roo & any back Enright or cheaper

Which do you think is better value?

note: option 2 would see me move goddard into the mids, allowing me to swap with whoever i choose out of broadbent/buckley/ladson in the backs

Selwood & Harvey. I think both should def lift their average while Roo may not and a player like Enright is chosen for consistency rather than improvement in avg

My turn...

I'm not 100% happy with my 7th forward and am thinking of swapping the #1 back to get a bit more money in the fwds. So it comes down to:

Goddard/Sam Wright or Gram/Lindsay Thomas

Macaky, I think, will struggle to get enough game time, what with Vince, Thompson, VB etc all presumably in front of him as well as the likes of Dangerfield coming into the midfield.

Mackay will get plenty of game time. His TOG is completely irrelevant. Mackay is a winger and the likes of Thompson, Vince and Dangerfield are on-ballers. ATM the crows 3 best wingers are probably Mackay, VB (kind of) and Symes in that order. He will get just as much TOG as any other midfielder.

Goddard/Sam Wright or Gram/Lindsay Thomas

I would go Goddard and Wright mainly because i don't like either of the other 2 players. Gram (i beleive) is fully priced and Thomas is very inconsistent and doesn't find enough of the ball to be considered imo.

Gibbs + M.McVeigh + 75k~ vs Cooney + K.Cornes (with expected averages)

He's averaged 61 from a forward flank and it's been mentioned numerous times that he and Campbell have spent the whole summer training with the midfield group. He could easily raise him average 15-20 points this year. I'm also not to keen on Gram but I couldn't find the extra money from anywhere else. Maybe I will have to reconsider and look at another way to get Goddard & Thomas.

Edit: What about this.... Goddard + Geary vs Gram/Hargrave + Mackie

On yours... I would go Cooney + K. Cornes only because I think you have 0 chance of getting 22 games out of McVeigh and Gibbs is gonna struggle with the extra attention in the first 3 rounds. Could be a good upgrade target though

Well, given he's suspended for Round 1...:p

Hmm, that's a tough one. I think Goddard is close to a lock because he'll be very difficult to add to your team during the year, but Geary doesn't convince me.

On the other hand, Mackie's role is undefined because of Harley's departure.

I'd go the first one.

ROK v Goodes

Yeah, I'm taking a bit of a risk with Geary but this kid did well for me last year until his unexplained drop off and he showed early on that he is capable of averaging around 90. I don't want to miss out on his breakout year after having him last year and I really want Goddard!

ROK v Goodes[/quote]

considering the same. both durable. both up signifanctly last year on avg from 2008. goodes capable of the odd shocker & ROK pretty consistent scorer

for me the compelling info;
Goodes - 11 games last year scoring 115+
ROK - 4 games last year scoring 115+

big fan of ROK but the numbers are compelling.

will watch NAB games & judge their form/roles.

ROK started 2009 as a fwd and when he moved to midfield his numbers took off. Recall he hurt ribs against tigers but still played out 2009.
If ROK's role is midfield then I'll stick with him

lol the rules are to compare the players from the previous thread. there wasnt one

Morabito - sure he'll cost more and there are more midfield rookie options, but his capacity to score more is greater and, barring injury, he will get more games than Sheppard this year. The Eagles will not blood Sheppard until later in the year unless a serious injury run hits.

Bryce Gibbs v Marc Murphy?

morabito or sheppard?

Thanks mate.

Don't worry about the others trying to derail this thread.

I don't think you can compare Morabito & Sheppard directly. Morabito has a lot more competition in the midfield - Martin, Trengrove, Bastinac, Scully are all probably ahead.

I assume you're asking because you can only fit one of them in. If that's the case, I'd go with Sheppard, purely because there are other rookie mids ahead of Morabito at the moment.

Solely based on Murphy's pre-season, and the persistent OP rumours, you would have to go Gibbs.

Goodes

Robert Murphy + 50k v SuperPav

Care to explain why?

Chapman? or Bartel?

have a look at the post before mine

NO QUESTION!!!!

good one mate:thumbsdown:

There was a question...

I don't think you need to get defensive, just say "cheers mate", answer the previous one and then post your question.

Lynch dropping marks has to be the most inane justification for an increase in DT scoring that I have ever heard.

Sorry I obviously should've added a :p... though I thought as a West Coast fan you might've got the joke anyway........

Seriously though... LeCras might not have a huge amount of improvement in him, but you can pretty much pencil him in for 70-90 points a game, which is value in its own right for a mid-price forward. *If* he gets pushed through midfield and racks up some big scores, then even better!

Gray *might* improve... although playing as a forward for Port Adelaide this year he might just as easily go backwards. Sure he has the potential to add $20k or $30k to your team value... but when he bombs out with a 20 because Port lost to Geelong by 15 goals and LeCras pulls out a 130 pushing through midfield you'll be wishing you'd gone with the consistent option!!!

S.Selwood or Suban?
Swfit or Masten?
Enright or Fisher?

For my time I'd say Suban because I already have a flock (is that the right word?) of Eagles in my team... and I'd say Suban anyway because there's too much competition from all the young Eagles meaning if Selwood has a couple of poor games he'll be out of the 22.

Masten is getting all the big wraps it seems and is set for a breakout year. Swift I think will be looking to find consistency and it may take longer than this season.

Enright purely because you can't have enough Geelong players.

Now for my question...

Joel Selwood + Rhyce Palmer OR Daniel Cross + Bradd Dalziell???

Well Palmer is injured, (or maybe under an injury cloud). But I would defiantly go Palmer + Selwood anyway.
