Well I'm not actually a psychologist, but I would have a go and say that people who post here frequently are passionate, and as that passion is channeled into the RFC they want to immerse themselves in it as much as possible. But more so, I would say that we're always looking for approval, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It can be a good thing actually because it reinforces positive behaviour. We all get a good feeling when someone says "great post" or gives us thumbs up to something we've written. We want to share our opinions and we want other people to be impressed by our opinions. We also want to be the first to break big news, for much the same reason.

I would have thought a lot of people come on here just to vent frustrations with a dysfunctional football team.

btw, interesting OP. Would tell us a lot if we knew which players hung around with each other.

my mate was out last night i got a message at around 1am
saying he was at a bucks party and bumped into deledio reckoned he was a top bloke had a chat had a beer and was as down to earth as they come
also said fev was there and was the complete opposite just a w***er apparently was throwing ice at people :|

the friday training sessions give u a bit of a glimpse into the personalities of blokes i remember matty white was jumping around all hypo trying to crack jokes while the others were just ignoring him seems like the likeable nice funny guy who might get a bit annoying

also the time patto through the ball at richos face (after he had just injured it) poor patto went up to richo 3 times to apologise hahah

richo is pretty much their god is how it looks from the outside

a month or so ago a few mates were at one night in Melbourne,
said there was always a crowd around Richo and one time Deledio got down and pretended to sheperd the crowd away from Richo yelling 'Youve got 5 Richo, you've got 5!'

Also said Kelvin Moore was a really sociable bloke, not hitting the piss too hard (ive also played basketball against him - athletic freak).

I remember when that happened, apparently bought him a massive box of Roses chocolates the next day.

Patto is your typical gentle giant from the sounds of things. Thank god hes not so gentle on the field though.

down at the richmond fitness first i tend to see jacko there, along with danny meyer, angus graham and cleaver.

Seen Richo out a few times with Petts also so they must get along alright.

Met Patto one night at star bar and have to say he is a top bloke, really nice guy.

LOL. Why am i not surprised. Interesting thread though. Apparently Newman was best man at Fev's wedding.

not that there's anything wrong with that. Is there Ize?
Not at all. I believe Joel observes most of what's going on around him but doesn't feel the need to feel to voice his opinion because, a. he doesn't think everybody at the club needs to know his opinion and it will not make any difference. b. he doesn't know what most of his team mates are talkin' about anyway c. his opinion sometimes may not make sense to the ordinary footballer d. meh.

He's a clever guy Joel, perhaps he doesn't identify with many of the other blokes.

shane edwards and dan connors are bestmates at the club and they are also in a group with jack, collins and cotchin. Cleve hughes and luke mcgaune used to live together but i think cleve now live with angus. Iv herd edwards lives with thursfield and connors lives with rainsey. I think they are all a pretty close bunch from everything iv ever read/heard :)

touche, your good I'll give you that. Yes, Joel is a clever guy. Are you Joel?:)

Interesting thread. I guess the key to success is having a tight knit group as well as having a good time. The one thing that makes me happy above all the exciting prospects around the club and how we finished off the season is the connection within the group.

The fact is, they are all great mates.

Putt and Gourdis are best mates. Too bad about Goo.

But when I've spoken to some of the players, they alway say how close they all are.

Its exciting and heart warming to think that the group that will hopefully take us back to the top with the likes of Thursfield, Raines, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Edwards, Polo, McGuane, Pattison, Hughes, Connors, Collins and Graham are all really good mates. It would be difficult for them to ever want to leave the club.

Of course you get your introverted types like Deledio, Foley, Morton and Tambling, but thats life. It doesn't mean they're not liked its just they have a different way of going about things.

Deledio and Foley are very professional footballers, I'm not sure how Morton made his transition and of course Tambling has a family to look after.

We dont know exactly what goes on inside the club, but I get the feeling there's a lot of positive energy going around.

I remember when I was younger, about 11, I went to a fan training day where the players put a group of kids through fun training drills etc. Joel was pretty unproven at this stage, yet he was my favourite player... but he wouldn't give me his autograph cos he didn't think he was a star! lol so I guess you could add modesty in there.

He grew up in the NT though right? You wouldn't expect him to be very loud. Joel is very clever for sure, I think he could be the next Benny Gale in retirement. He's one player I'd really like to keep around the club.

It's good to keep hearing about how well a lot of our young blokes get along. I read on another forum that Connors and Edwards were living together last year and a quick glance at Shano's facebook will tell you he is good mates with Dan too lol so it all sounds true.
