Alistair Lynch (I think) got future gf suspensions doubled after he went troppo at Darryl Wakelin in the '04 gf
Robbie Flower breaking a finger when it was caught in a lace-up jumper saw those types of jumpers banned.

I think: they brought the rule to double penalties when Long took out Troy Simmonds in 2000. Lynch's penalty was the first to be doubled, but he was retiring anyway.

I believe because Lynch was retiring they now have the rule that players who don't serve the suspensions through retirement, get fined.

Byron Pickett.... one of my fav players... changed the bumping rule. He was so good at it, and so lethal, it became an obvious hazard to life long health. it became an offence to bump players front on with their head over the ball.

Reducing the centre circle ruck to 10 metre for run up was due to many injuries, but the Jeff White was most commonly noted and he was involved in the trials to test the rule.
Yeah came here to post this one. Can add Malthouse and Buttifant too given that they figured out how much more damaging Swan was playing in bursts.

Yeah now you can only rush it if you are close to the line and under pressure instead of being a distance away.

Rules weren't exactly changed (to my knowledge) but AFL bent as many rules as they could.
