No chance...I know...BUT

I would be trying to get an AFL/Government grant to add another stand and maybe get the ground to 20,000 maybe 25,000 if possible (it's at 15,000 now). We can play a side like Port Adelaide or GWS there every year. It doesn't need to happen right away, maybe in the next 5-10 years.

What does this achieve?

It creates Tiger heaven, literally only OUR supporters and it would give us the same advantage Geelong have now, and we used too have back in the 20's-60's. Is it possible to only allow Richmond members a ticket to this? Or does the opposition need a cheer squad?

I know it sounds ridiculous and we would never be able to fit all our supporters, but for one game every year, if a plan was put in place to make it happen in the next ten years, we could literally seal an extra win every year, because I doubt any interstate side would beat us there.

Up close and personal with ALL Richmond faithful, we would dwarf them. It would liven up the city of Melbourne.

The atmosphere would be worth it, this could help make new kids Richmond supporters, I just think we should consider it, thoughts?

:( Damn - I think the AFL need to worry about what's best for Richmond, not what's best for GWS & GC for a moment, this would add an extra dimension to our clubs culture, imagine driving past punt road on a saturday afternoon as a kid, and seeing 25,000 of the LOUDEST people dressed in yellow and black, what impression would that set on you.

We have the opportunity to create something great here, it's hard work, but with the redevelopment of the turf happening soon, it can happen.

I'm sorry but this is probably one of the most unlikely things iv'e ever heard of.

To be up to AFL standards you would need to build a complete new stadium, do you honestly believe CNB1990 that the current stands are up to scratch?? A complete rebuild would be needed, 35000 seater at a minimum and we would need to play more than one game there each season..

Now, a more likely scenario will be watching Richmonds reserve side playing in the VFL at Punt Road in a couple of seasons time or so..

Wouldn't it be fantastic if every team got to play one home game at their old suburb ovals? Imagine if brisbane even played a home game at a re-developed brunswick street oval?

We can only imagine.

More realistically, VFL Richmond Tigers play there in the afternoon when AFL Richmond has Saturday night matches at the MCG. Membership gets you into both games free.

Stuff that, I want to play every single home game at the G if possible, I am perfectly happy to watch the Richmond reserves at PRO which I believe is the long term plan.

hmmmmm....75000 members and a 25000 seat stadium......you must be young and dont remember when we ruled the jungle.......

Need a 60000 seat stadium minimum.

Just on the point of another AFL ground, wasn't there talk of Optus coming back for matches like GC v Norf, or a Port v Melb a couple of years ago? What happened to that?
