Pretty chuffed with myself for having the idea to download the trial of wwe 2k24 last night. Just had to redeem it through plus and no need to battle through the slow servers downloading it tonight. Now I can enjoy my night with some good ol wrasslin

Saving for Silent Hill 2. According to reviews it is a worthy remake, and probably a necessary one too considering the original is a fairly clunky.
As a jb perk member I got a $10 voucher from my Birthday think i'll use it for Silent Hill 2

Also have a 50% trade voucher from EB don't have anything to trade in towards

I got an email about that $10 thing too but I don’t know how long it lasts, my birthday was months ago.

I have a JB voucher but I might use that on Black Ops instead and get Silent Hill around Christmas, I have too many games in my backlog atm.

I haven’t played a SH game, but I might eventually buy the remake. Looks like something worth playing.

Backward way of doing things

I don't have interest in updating to a ps5 slim or ps5 pro despite the benefits in doing so.... I'll do something if/when my current ps5 breaks down.

Whereas I'm full speed ahead with updating to the new Xbox sku.... that has no real improvements other than going from 1 to 2tb storage. I'm getting rid of the Series S and current Series X in the process.

Yeah, flooding the market is just gonna turn people off. I remember the glut of WW2 games that all came out at the same time earlier in the 2000s - Medal of Honour, Call of Duty, some others I can't even remember now. I got into Medal of Honour, and a bit of Call of Duty and then WW2 games just got... boring.

Sure, butchering Nazis was fun but then the market went all 'samey'. Market saturation was achieved. I never bought any more games in those franchises.

FF7 Rebirth is getting people to buy a Pro the improvement is night and day from what gamers are saying.

Well the other part of me not being instantly getting one is I (embarrassingly) only have a basic Samsung 4K tv. So while its pretty good for my basic use (movies, general gaming etc) but if I want to take advantage of VRR... I'd need to update the tv as well.

Yep i'm in the same boat have a Sony Bravia from 2019 that does 4K HDR it's bloody hard to find a cheap TV that can do VRR.

Not sure why you're admitting to wanting to be stupid?

Funny thing is with mine, it's got a very good low latency rate for gaming (was one of the best at the time). Just doesn't have HDMI 2.1. And user reviews aren't very kind on it (some saying they only got 2 others saying they only got 3 years of use before it died... I've given it a good thrashing over nearly 5 years lol).

I'd like to update to something "better" in the future, but there are so many options and pros/cons. For me gaming performance would be secondary (prefer to have little on screen lag etc when watching tv/movies/sports etc).

Well i'm a level 4 EB member and get it for $599 trying very hard to hold off lols.

I took advantage of EB's "trade in" deal with the recent Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy model.
While I didn't trade in 4 games, I still got value for money back (traded both the Series S console which I rarely used these days and my original Series X)..... no games. But in terms of money spent/given back via trades I essentially spent $850 over the journey..... for a current day item that retails for $999. I've only gone to EB in the last 2 years FOR console hardware....

Although I'll be going back next week as I did pre-order a 30th anniversary controller :p

My mate a about a year or 2 ago picked up an LG Oled 40'inch TV that's got HDMI 2.1 and VRR for just over $1k JB were having a sale the TV is pretty darn good has all the features you want.

I didn't have any money at the time to pick up one for my self what a spew

The gaming mods will love us going off topic :p the EB thread is that-a-way ------------>

I shopped a lot at my closest EB (early 2000's until the late 2000's). The "managers" that were there in that time were awesome. I know good salesmanship rather than "friendship" but because I'd basically be there at the same time every week.... they looked after me with various deals and heads up on certain promotions (re: don't buy it now, wait till next week and it'll be cheaper etc). Also pre youtube walkthroughs I used to buy the game guide books with my new game purchases. They'd give me some for free (saves them throwing them out as well I guess) still took them haha.

I stopped going to EB "regularly" around 2008-9 for a variety of reasons (got games cheaper at a Harvey Norman for one thing). Still popped in every now and then to get an xbox/psn subscription card.... hate how it's more of a gaming "loot" place these days.... but in saying that I've usually found some gaming accessory in there that I otherwise wouldn't have purchased (Captain America wallet for the win hahaha).
