Has anyone took advantage of the 25% discount to PS plus.

Is it worth it for 12 months at $25% off.
Trying to weigh up if I should.

Yeh, that annoyed me. I was going to drop down to Extra, but it was cheaper to go the Deluxe discount. I really wanted to be able to drop to Extra AND get the discount.

Yeah, same here. My sub was expiring in July and I couldn’t get the discount last time, so was hoping one was coming in July and I was planning on bumping down to Extra. So this new discount has come at the best time and especially now that existing members can at least use it.

Is the only difference with deluxe the classic games?

Mine's up soon and I haven't played a single classic game since this started. If that's all it is, I'll drop it down a tier.

I think classics and the 2hr game trials are the only difference.

But they sometimes pull a dodgy one by putting remasters/reamakes as classics when they add games. like Ghostbusters a few months ago.

Games such as The Bioshock games, Borderlands The Handsome Collection, Classic Doom, Uncharted 1-3 etc are in the classic collection. I thought that section was only going to be for PS1 and PS2 games but in the end there are some really good games in there.

Ok. Yeah I just subscribed to 12 months on extra.

I can't go delux even if I want to as it's not an option. Only allowing me 12 months on PS extra with the discount.
Not bad as is only $100.

Better then paying the $18 a month I was before.

That's very odd, I did deluxe no issues.

Dunno if deluxe is really worth it though, the Ps/Ps2 aren't fantastic and still no ps3 streaming option

Correct, classics cat and trials is only difference between tiers, it's not worth in slightest.

Classic has everything you need really.
Extra adds what was PS+ collection in game catalogue and Ubi+ sub.
Deluxe then adds the trials and classic cat, which as you say is essentially a bunch of PS4 releases and some PSX and PS2 titles that have been for sale for around 6 years as why not?

Especially when the sell was PSX, PS2, PSP at the core for classics and instead we have almost 60% of it being PS4 things like Yakuza and Uncharted, I never expected PS3 since emotion engine and how much of a bastard that developmental cycle was, but for there to be nothing from PSP even is shizen. Did see they slowly added some other PS2 like Wild Arms 2 though, slowly but steady I suppose...

Still looks like I can't do what I want. It only let's me renew Deluxe. I can't renew at the Extra level. My current sub expires in November, I've set it up to switch to Extra then, but I can't apply the discounted Extra renewal.

Only way to do that is if you let your PS Plus Essential expire and then buy the Essential tier. You can’t downgrade an active subscription, even if a discount is currently running. If I tried to downgrade from Deluxe to Extra right now (I tested it), it would say the change will take effect from 3/7/2024. Another downside I have read is that if you downgrade to Essential as your next subscription, you can’t play the games that you downloaded through Extra.

Conveniently, you can upgrade from Essential to Extra while on an active sub.

Was hoping for Resident Evil 2 Remake or Tiny Tina. Already have FC6 and it's garbage.

It's not gonna be for everyone but if you like Slay the Spire and games like that, it's well worth a look.

yeah same here re Alan Wake. did like Control, just hadn't gone back to AW yet

The Alan Wake remaster is pretty tidy. I bought it a while back dirt cheap on sale and played a few hours. I should really go back and finish it in preparation for the next game. While not required for Control it is cool to understand some of the references from AW in that game.
