Melbourne Central's beautiful musical bird clock has charmed many locals and visitors over the decades.
While I have seen the clock many times, I only noticed recently that the number 4 is displayed on the clockface as IIII rather than the traditional IV usually seen in Roman Numerals. I think it might be to avoid clashing with the 9, which is IX but part of the X is obscured by a date dial.

I can't say I've ever noticed it before. Maybe its one of those situations where you expect to see something (in this case IV at 4 on a clockface) that you simply don't notice the different reality.
