Using Pokémon Bank, you'll be able to transfer Pokémon you've caught in the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, andPokémon Yellow into your copy of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon. Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, andPokémon Y can also be brought into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in the same way.

So your Virtual Console Pokemon can move, but the big thing is Ruby/Sapphire/X/Y Pokemon MUST be brought using the Poke Transfer. That would suggest its a new generation, otherwise you'd be able to trade both ways. And new Pokemon are mentioned, so yeah.

Since TMs are in short supply, I would take the simpler edition of the gen because that mechanic was a pain in the arse.

Grab a lapras from Celadon (do they do that in yellow) grab a snorlax and use your pickachu and youve got Red's heat team.

My Pokemon Yellow update: I got Pikachu. Beat Assfaces Eevee. Thinking of going with the charmander, squirtle, bulbasaur and Pikachu lineup. Not sure who my last 2 will be.
