Those reviews orinally said there was 7 trial captains for each island. But nintendo made them change it to "several"

7 trial captains times four islands means, effectively there are 28 gym leader type battles. This game should be great! Really jam packed

Plus each trial has you completing some sort of quest before the battle and than also add in the Kahuna for each island which is another four battles.
