Erin Phillips would be insane. Given most of her peers and competitors would be (skills and fitness wise) amateurs, it would be like sending Ollie Wines into an amateur team.

Given how behind SA women's football apparently is compared to other states, it's a signing that helps us out hugely.

Feels very clive Waterhouse/ginever/hodges to me
Ie
She might not play for the power in the end but having her as a signing is making the right noises towards AFL house for a womens AFL team in the next couple of years

If we do get a team Erin would be like Gav.

You know what port should have done....
Enter the port Adelaide magpies as the women's team. Not sure if they are or your going with power. Either way should use the old magpies guernsey licence it for afl women's before Collingwood get in and do it. That way perhaps Collingwood couldn't tell port to GAGF regarding the whole magpie/power guernsey saga

Afl wont allow it to happen ed will have a huge cry if it did and we would have ro change so it wouldnt happen in the first place

I fear the SANFL (if they have any say in this) won't support PAFC for the women's AFL licence - cos SANFL.

They'll want to fly as one with the AFC, or have a composite team for all South Australians.

Be good if the chicks played over summer to give us some afl in the dry months
This would be great. Schedule the matches at night so the heats not as much of an issue. Have it on fox footy as Doc Feel said. Would surely rate better than the constant repeats? I'd watch it and go to matches as long as it's Port and not some state/hybrid team.

I think a lot of people are missing the point when it comes to women's football.
It's a battle for "soccer mums" and participation rates. The more women involved in football, particularly at a playing level is a good thing for all sectors of the game. If the "soccer mums" have the opportunity to play the sport, they'll be more likely to encourage or accept their sons and daughters decision to play football at a junior level. The AFL would be hoping to bump up their participation rates in a segment with huge growth potential (women's football) and make ground for the battle at junior level.

The more people participating, the greater the talent pool is in the long term. It won't be easy and results won't happen overnight, but it needs to be done to further cement Australian Football as the premier sport of this country.

We need this. Like it or not, this is the future and if we do not get on board now we will miss this opportunity. I for one would throw money at this in a membership. When I was in high school back in the 70's, our school put up a girls side against a girls side from a neighbouring school and juvenile quips aside, the ferocity shown from both sides was insane.

At around 1.30 - "Look I know Keith Thomas has been, for the past 12 months, kind of putting things in the works and and I've been speaking to the club the past few weeks..."

I'm starting to think the AFL would be insane not to allow both SA clubs to field women's teams. The rivalry is ridiculous. Imagine the showdowns!
Might be the plan all along. The manufactured rivalry about who will be first is a re hash of the men's teams, great marketing.
