Yesterday I got the mob who are running the Port Adelaide raffle call me saying ticket sales are going way too slow and can I buy another book for $60.00 or take a book to sell.
I thought about it for a little while and had to tell her no. The club has been over doing it on fundraisers in my opinion I told her.Money for this and money for that they want and I think they have just asked too much of people. She hinted that this is why she thinks raffle ticket sales are down.
It was only $60.00 but I have membership coming up for 3 people and buy all my merchandise from the club as well as pledge per win.I just thought the raffle tickets was a bit too much especially after buying some seemingly only a few weeks back.

Funny, I had a call last week and said I would take another book (and sell it at work) but nothing arrived.
I did not pay on the phone (i generally shy away from doing that). If its ended no wonder I did not get sent another book :)

I had a call yesterday from them to buy another book.
They told me that they still had a few books to sell so they extended the deadline.

I rang them on that day as I had neglected to return my book. I was told the deadline had been extended until sometime in November.

Cheers, that gives me some extra time to sell my tickets. :thumbsu:

Mind you I've told the club a few times that selling raffle tickets with the third prize onwards being a Port souvenir pack is basically an exercise in goodwill of your work colleagues who don't follow Port or football. Surely they could get some NFR freebies from their sponsors.

Yeah I got the call the other day, already bought a book over the phone a while back (well...... I got a sheet of paper with some ticket numbers on it). They were offering whole books or single tickets, ended up saying no.

It's true. I buy a book every year out of goodwill.

I never get much interest in selling tickets to others though. Better prizes would definitely help.

They ring me all the time, and I usually just buy a few tickets on the phone as it is a safer bet as I am shocking at returning the books.

I do doubt the value of purchasing tickets though as I don't know how much the club actually makes from the sales. I think next year I will buy my dog a membership instead as I think that way the club gets the whole amount.

I've given up trying to sell the tickets to others. When they ring I just buy the whole book over the phone and they send me a letter with the ticket numbers. Saves me having to fill out a book of tickets myself and remember to post it back.

Exactly what I do.

I have always bought the books. Never ever won a thing from any tickets. But was over the moon when I got lucky in the 1st one this year won a 3rd prize a 2 signed Guernseys AFL & Prison bar and a footy. Bit surprised when they rang and said they had a 2nd lottery But its a great cause so I Bought another book that closes on Friday. The missus would love the 1st prize, new Renault, has to be a TEAL paint job. LOL.

I always buy my book but last year was a worry because I got a call weeks after I handed mine in asking me when I was going to hand it in. Luckily I still had the receipt given to me at the counter but after that I wasn't too sure whether I was actually in the draw. I just see it as a 60 dollar donation now. This year I waited until the last day to hand it in and made sure I got a receipt again.
