Great for the playing group to get this opportunity too. With this and our training facilities we aren't quite the "have not" we are sometimes made out to be.

Would love to head over for this, but not sure if I will be able to.

Might have to work the streets a little more with my tricks. ;)

The way you worded that sounds like you are going to put on the Matthilda get up TSW and head down Hanson Road. :D

Good to see us get a promotional game from the AFL, let's hope they don't book us tickets on Clive Palmer's Titanic. :p

THE WESTERN Bulldogs and Port Adelaide will play an exhibition match at the The Oval in London on November 3.

The AFL today confirmed the game would go ahead between the two teams, the first game in London since Port Adelaide and Geelong played in 2006, after agreement was reached overnight with the Surrey County Cricket Club.

AFL general manager of national and international Development Andrew Dillon said the game would continue to promote the AFL internationally and the growth of the game in the region.

"There are now 21 countries affiliated under AFL Europe with more than 4600 players competing in regular competitions across Europe while a large Australian expatriate community in England, primarily centred in London, retains strong links to their clubs at home," Dillon said.

Western Bulldogs Chief Executive officer Simon Garlick said in a statement that the game would be a boost to the club's pre-season program.

"The Western Bulldogs are viewing the clash as a unique opportunity to not only promote our great game but to also kick-start our 2013 pre-season campaign by taking advantage of the professional development opportunities overseas - particularly those forged through our education and sports science partnership with Victoria University," Garlick said.

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas said the club would use the game as a chance to visit leading international sporting organisations, including a camp at the Australian Sport Commission European Training Centre in Italy, co-funded by the players and staff.

"For Port Adelaide, this trip is an exceptional development opportunity for our young squad to share the experience of training, playing and learning in some of the most outstanding sporting environments in the world, as we build for next year and beyond," Thomas said.

AFL Europe hosts an annual competition for its affiliated leagues and it is expected the best two countries would compete in a curtain-raiser before the Bulldogs-Power match on November 3. Ireland has won both the 2002 and 2011 AFL International Cups, for players not born in Australia.

AFL clubs were first part of matches in London in the 1980s, with matches also played overseas at various times in New Zealand, the USA, South Africa, Canada and recently in Shanghai, China in 2010 as part of the 2010 World Expo.

Great to see two of the so called 'have not' clubs given a chance to do some OS stuff with the AFL footing a good part of the bill.

I wonder what part the overseas trip played in Boaky's decision. Couldn't have hurt!

I went to one of these exhibition games back in 1997. They are actually quite shit.

Should be playing Hawthorn - unleash Clarko in the Battle of Britain 2.

PORT AND ARSENAL IN THE SAME CITY. FARRKKKKKK I NEED MONEY NOW!

Port Adelaide play in the early arvo, Man City play West Ham in the late arvo and New England Play the St.Louis Rams 5 days earlier at Wembly. Seriously considering... for 3 of my most favourite teams to be playing in the one city at the same time will never happen again.
