Roast Port Adelaide's failure to do a HIA assessment on Aliir - [AFL confirms both players FAILED concussion tests on Monday]

Taylah has been on the boxing circuit for years now. How you can compare this to being an AFL issue is ludicrous.

She got beat in her last fight from which your photo is from and no one wins every bout but using this angle and/or argument to excuse your own club is just pathetic.
I'm not actually excusing it, I'm saying the fact he was allowed back out there was due to the doctor, not the club. If the doctor says no, he doesn't return to the field. It's a simple as that. I have a hard time believing Ken Hinkley sitting on the benched looked at Aliir and said, yep he's got no worries doctor, no need to look him over, just get him back out there. (Although I really hope that's the case cause that would surely spell the end of Hinkleys time at the club)

The thing is, if the doctors ticked it off, what can the AFL realistically do in this scenario? Port Adelaide will just say we took our doctors word that Aliir was okay, who are we to argue with him as our hired medical professional?
If anything, it's the doctor that should be facing the consequences for okaying it. I don't think the club can be held accountable when we've hired this doctor specifically as our medical professional to give us the best advice.

It should be an independent doctor, end of. And preferably one that specialises in head injuries.

When the doctor is a club employee it actually does say a lot about your club.

Aliir and Jones were both OUT. Everyone watching could see it. Aliir was limp immediately after the contact and crumpled to the ground.

The fact that Aliir then went back into the game approximately 5 minutes later with no HIA being undertaken by the Port Adelaide medical staff is simply unforgiveable in the modern AFL.

There is going to be an absolutely massive penalty coming Port Adelaide's way for this.

Obviously there will be an investigation. What if directive came from Hinkley to not allow Aliir out of game? Does he get suspended by afl?
No he gets a 4 year contract extension. Keeps everyone happy and Port less than happy.

I’m in the boat of the Doc should probably be asked a lot of hard question.

A HIA should have been done or at least seen to be done. Whatever he then writes on the bit of paper that’s up to the doc. To not do one is just down right stupid in todays concussion world.

It's not the first time. A really ugly look and not good enough. Both times they've been trailing in big games when they've decided no concussion review was required from a huge headknock between crucial players

Looking forward to Kane Cornes brushing it off tomorrow.

Will get completely overlooked. Wet lettuce at most.
If the AFL do they are absolutely moronic. It is this exact type of incident that will open them up to litigation, not someone accidentally bumping another players head as they both compete for the footy.

The doctor is part of your club.

Note: there was also a link to a tweet here that had a swear word that a mod removed

The link was from ex Port player Jay Schulz who is suing the club and AFL over concussion negligence.

He wasn’t happy.

They will have to request a please explain. Until then, much of the media will tread warily, given potential defamation implications.
