Honestly I reckon that looks pretty awesome. Why don't they wear something like this:
Keeps their SANFL tradition while still being the AFL Port.
And no one can say "but that isn't Port" when teal is one of AFL Port's primary colours.
Why don't Essendon wear a red top when they're playing on ANZAC Day as the away team to remove the clash with Collingwood's mostly black outfit? Why don't they wear something like this:

Do the afl represent Australian rules football in this country, are they the custodians of its history and heritage? If so then every team for which plays in the afl has a right to represent its entire history not what other clubs see fit to tell them they can.Huge difference here.
Fitzroy and South Melbourne were foundation clubs of the competition, playing in the VFL's first season in 1897.
Port Adelaide joined the AFL competition 100 years later in 1997 wearing teal, black and white and an official club logo/name of "Port Power". Anything they wore before this has no direct relevance to the history of the VFL/AFL competition itself. Sure it has relevance to the club, which is why Collingwood and AFL graciously approved it to be worn last year for your 150th anniversary game.
Because thats ****n stupidWhy don't Essendon wear a red top when they're playing on ANZAC Day as the away team to remove the clash with Collingwood's mostly black outfit?

Because that is not a celebration of our heritage, I don't mind the jumper but it completely misses the point of what the whole issue is about. Why don't they wear something like this:

It’s too far gone now, but imagine if this was the original Power guernsey back in 1997.Because that is not a celebration of our heritage, I don't mind the jumper but it completely misses the point of what the whole issue is about.

The official Club name when Port Adelaide joined the AFL was the Port Adelaide Football Club. Just like it had been for the previous 120+ years.
Having that as our standard guernsey - I could live with that. It’s too far gone now, but imagine if this was the original Power guernsey back in 1997.
Appreciate you want the original black and white bars, but even now this is a good fusion of SANFL history and AFL present.

No. If we are gunna bring back the bars it’s gotta be the true jumper otherwise keep the current oneWhy don't they wear something like this:

That's up to the AFL to decide. We wear our clash jumper against Richmond as the away team. I don't mind doing the same against Collingwood. Why don't Essendon wear a red top when they're playing on ANZAC Day as the away team to remove the clash with Collingwood's mostly black outfit?
It was floating around the site. Looks good.Lol. Where did you get that from? That’s my handiwork.
SANFL history. AFL Port wear Black, white and teal and always has. Black and white prison bars is just never going to happen. Maybe the bars can be teal and white.Because that is not a celebration of our heritage, I don't mind the jumper but it completely misses the point of what the whole issue is about.
Ok then keep the current one.No. If we are gunna bring back the bars it’s gotta be the true jumper otherwise keep the current one
Yeah that would be awesome.I think if the two middle Teal bars were white then you have something pretty good.

A lot of people truly don't even know the difference between a club and a team. Are we seriously confusing an abbreviation on a logo with the official club name?
I guess The Port Adelaide Football Club, known as The Power didn't quite fit.
True or false: Port Adelaide approved official AFL merchandise to be produced and sold indicating the club was established in 1996?

McAllister's letter only indicates he would put the proposal to the board, I assume he did and the board subsequently rejected it."I will reiterate to our board that if the Port Adelaide Football Club should succeed at ranking higher than the Collingwood Football Club for three consecutive years in the AFL then our objections will be waived.”
