News Port to Make Massive Offer for Ebert / Phil Walsh

Great new if true. Didn't think Ebert would leave yet probably will one day but not yet.

Like I said I would think we have lost Walsh which is a real shame. I wonder who we will target to fill his role? (You know what Neil Craig would actually be a perfect fit)

Your kidding right. Walsh's role is gameday tactics and innovations. While craig was a good coach by far his weakest area was gameday. I honestly can't think of a senior coach atm who is worse in this area.

Fair enough, but I would arguee that his strength was his planning and his strategies. If his sole purpose is to watch opponents games and then come up with strategies for them I beleive he will do quite well. Sorry though must have got Walsh's role mixed up. Any suggestions on who we should target?

I'd like Laidley. Proven to be a great game day coach and got the most out of his team at NM.

Would be sad to lose Walsh, &/or Burns, but life goes on. There are heaps of people involved in the footy world dying to get into, or trying to advance, their coaching career ambitions. Their are only 18 senior coaches in Australia, but lots of assistants jobs (still a small amount compared to those wanting them). Make no mistake that the Eagles will have no trouble attracting the best of that group, so while they would be loses they are certainly not irreplaceable.

have to say that's what role I thought Walsh played too groga. But I still don't think he'll leave, Burns on the other hand is gone.

He'll only leave if he wants to go back home. He'll probably be on less money and will be at a shizen-hausen club. He has to weight it up, hopefully he stays.

Phil Walsh was recruited from Vic country town of Hamilton & debuted for the Pies.
Guess you are talking about Ebert?

Starting to think that making a massive play for Ebert is about the best decision that Port has made this year. They desperately need on field leadership and Ebert was his U18 captain from memory, could be a future captain there.

sounds like you are prepared to practically gift him. why? would rather a sexy draft pick? someone you can speculate about? perhaps an unknown, plucked out of nowhere with sexy skills, left footed?

Why would I want Ebert traded? I have loved Ebert from the StKilda game in 2008(ish) when he kicked 3 in a quarter.

All though.. Milla Kounis at pick #23 is a pretty sexy offer.

Who? Or are you talking about Mila Kunis? Or Milla Jovovich?

That one

The part I bolded is what amazes me about reporting on events nowdays. Not 2 weeks ago I listened to Burns respond to a question about his future by stating "he wanted to remain at WestCoast to finish off the job he started".
I know 24 hours can be a long time in football but Burns is one of the straightest shooters you can come across - and I find it unlikely he would would do a 180 degree turn on this especially as he had to know he was going to be asked the question about the Adelaide job during the interview and would have given some thought to his response.

In fact I was in Melbourne and there was an article in the Herald Sun that he had rejected overtures to head back to S.A.

Is this just article padding ?

Chief AFL scribe in Adelaide is MichaelAngelo Rucci & on Melbourne radio today Thu he still rates Burns at #1 for the Crows job.

Do not want him anywhere near our club

Most overrated coach of the last decade
I'm not a particular fan of Laidley's abrasive nature and discontent for opinions other than his. The Port Adelaide midfield has been abysmal since he's taken over there.

Thanks but no thanks.

IMO if Port offer up a deal involving their first pick which was reasonable then we'd be stupid not to accept the deal. Ebert's just a flanker these days and although he's been playing better this year he's not irreplaceable.
