5. James
4. Pickett
3. Wanganeen (however, could get three Brownlow votes for this)
2. Tredrea
1. Cochrane

Almost impossible to order the first four. Each of them was essential and excellent.

5 - Pickett. The last three weeks has gone from good to very good to bloody awesome.
4 - James. Worked hard. Thank god we get the other half of our starting 4 midfield back though. Had to do too much last couple (but done it so well)
3 - Wangas. Couple of disposal errors, but otherwise great game. Hopefully brownlow votes. It's down to Voss, Ricciuto and Gav. now.
2 - Tredrea. One of the few who held marks all day in the conditions, to set up numerous shots on goal, besides his own good return.
1 - K. Cornes. This one could be any of Kane, Chad, Cochrane, Dom or Dimma in my opinion - first four more clear cut in who if not order. Giving to Kane because great to see a no. 18 in black and white. I want that guersney!

Coaching - Selection - 9/10. No Ebert was a disappointment, but glad Morgan got a go, we needed him to have had a game with the side in case Paxman or Wakes is injured in finals and Thurstans isn't fit.
Match Day - 6/10 or 9/10. The former if it was under Choco's instructions to play short with the breeze in the first quarter and waste the advantage, 9/10 if it was the players and not his.

Umpiring - 3/10. We had more frees, but the usual evening up in the last with cheap frees in defence or centre when the game was over. When in the balance the Blues had 5 goals from frees, we had 1 and 1 annulled. That's an extra 30 points from the men in red due to frees over us. And they were soft as a wet tissue. Geez. I'm putting in an early prediction for next week. Frees - 20 - 17 our way after 10 - 15 at 3/4 time. Dees to get 3 more goals from frees then us. And we'll cop one soft 50M penalty for no good reason and not receive any.

5-Pickett - could be an outside chance for a HFF AA spot
4-Wangas - Chas beckons
3-James - Stepped up in the last few weeks in the abscence of Stevens, P.Burgoyne, etc.
2-Tredders - all class
1-Poults

Throw a blanket over the first four vote-getters. But as I'll have to segregate them :

5 - Pickett. Kept the ball in the forwards in the first half, unfortunately with no return for him and little for others. But kept it away from Carltons' attacking half.

4 - Wangas. Bit like the hokey-kokey, our Gav. A lot of putting your right foot in, and then out, and then shaking it all about. Cleaned up everything at the back and switched play perfectly.

3 - James. Busiest player on the park. Spent all day getting his 28 possessions by diving under packs.

2 - Tredrea. 12 marks and 3 goals on a windy day like that was a top return from the AFLs' premiere CHF. Should have been 4 but the ump made allowances for Manton straying off the mark by 3 metres.

1 - Shaun Burgoyne. Little to talk about in the first half as it was with a lot of our players. Lifted himself appreciably in the second half when moved to half-back and midfield.

Others to show a bit - Cassisi kept Lappin quiet and showed some as yet unnoticed touch to give Dew a soda. Lade was the only ruckman to get over 10 hitouts but the direction wasn't great. Did well around the ground. Would have hoped the perforances of Chad and Kane would have shut Graham up but he still seems determined to further prove his toolishness.

The umpiring, well, what has been said. 25-18 frees so the umpires can say they favoured us but 1-5 goals from frees. And only one of those frees seemed reasonable, the throw by Poulton in the last quarter. Just as well percentage isn't a consideration.

5 Byron - only one running in the first quarter, 4 great goals, excitement machine!
4 Tredders - 12 marks, 3 goals, great game.
3 Jamesy - 28 possessions, on bottom of packs.
2 Gav - 28 possessions, turned the game in the second half from the middle.
1 Ladey - along with Gav, turned the game in the third quarter. This vote could have gone to any one of about 4 players.

Apologies: Poults, K Cornes, Dom, Schoey

fair Dinkum people.... the best on ground was pretty easy,

5 votes- Roger James, absoulutly played his heart out, got severly tagged by the human pest(hulme) and still ran him off his legs and got 28 touches. 30 clearences for the day for port, Roge got 9 and his tackling was supurb! He actually stood someone unlike some other guys who get raps every week!!! Was B.O.G by a mile..

4- votes- Pickett, Is in sensational form, and has know picked up the power game plan, and he is making opposition pay, and Rob Walls which is good... but sensational 2nd half.

3-votes- Kane Cornes, Is so determined in his role of stopping players, and then gets the ball himself, had Campo looking over his shoulder, great game.

2- votes- Tredda's Another hard working game, probly deserved to kick 5 but battled hard all day. Is a super hard worker.

1- vote- Wanga's Is a class player, will win the brownlow, but he should get 25-30 every game cause he stands no-one, but he does it sensationally well.

Would have to agree with funkycol...

5. Roger James - Although Byron kicked 4 and was an excitement machine, Roger worked hard all day and was hard in and under the packs. His work rate has really lifted since Nick S went out with the knee and the extra time on the ground can only help him get better and stronger for the finals.

4. Byron Pickett - What can be said? He is just getting better and better. His 1%'s are some of the best going around- the bumps, smothers and chases are fantastic to watch. He is going to be mega important for the side in the next month.

3. Sir Gav - Another great game to add to his stockpile of the season. Should get some Brownlow votes for his efforts in the back pocket and across the wing. Plays with the brains of an experienced veteran and the body of a 23 y-o. Waiting in anticipation of what is to come!

2. Kane Cornes - Kept Campo quiet and kicked 2 important goals for us. Has really emerged over the past year as one of the best up-and-coming midfielders in the comp. Gotta love the fist shake in Campo's face after his second goal :D

1. Jared Poulton - I like him more and more every week. Always gives 100% and keeps his head under pressure. I'm praying that he stays in the side when we go into the finals, one of our most consistent defenders this year and showed it on Sunday.

Apologies - Chad, Tredders, Ladey and Junior

5- Pickett - along with James were easily the best two on the ground. 4 goals, a tick under 20 touches, 7 tackles, a couple of nice bumps and played the whole 4 quarters is enough for BOG IMO.

4- James - His last couple of weeks have been very good, seems to have gotten over his groin injury at last. Will be sensational once Nick & Peter join him in the midfield, although don't expect him to have another good game til the showdown or the first week in the finals cos he's usually only a big game player.

3- Super Gav - Hopefully the umps will reward him with atleast one if not more brownlow votes from this game, another good performance.

2- Tredders - Another tredders like game, lots of marks, lots of touches and a few goals, nothing out of the ordinary here.

1- Lade - besides the fact that the goal post could outrun him, he had a pretty handy game, plus i think i owe him a vote or two from early in the year.

Very Unlucky - Poults, Pax, Kane.

Coaching - Selection - some strange calls, though White in front of Morgan and maybe could have squeezed in Ebet for this game.
Game Day - nothing outstanding, seemed we just did what we had to. Overall a workmanlike 7/10.

Umpiring - Possibly the softest quarter of football in the first quarter, 17 frees, probably 8 of them weren't as soft as hell. The down the field free to Chinny McChinchin was S-O-F-T! Chad got a dodgy free also which gave us a goal, soft both ways really. 5 goals from frees really does help a struggling team though. 4.5/10
