Pleasantly surprised to flick on double j and see they are replaying the 1997 hottest 100.
Woohoo ... Cows With Guns on now. 2018 music can **** right off.

Yeah…. heading back from the Cadel road race with volume at maximum level!

Cows with Guns…. gold! NIN with Perfect Drug was rocking too.

I know I'm a 50 year old campaigner and all but I didn't mind some of that stuff from Gang of youths yesterday…. that was OK. But yeah, that number one Humble song was pretty shit. And there's some band called Brockhampton that I'd never heard of until yesterday. Just boring music. Really boring. Maybe it's my old ears!

Good point, in fact one of my biggest criticisms of today's music industry is how little stylistic diversity it fosters. I guess that's what happens with the same 4 or 5 guys write "hits" for half the Billboard top 100, mainstream music has never been more bland & homogenized than now. Maybe you can argue it wasn't terribly inventive back in the Big Crosby days either but at least then artists needed to have actual talent.

Rap is still shit though.

that's because up to 50% of most songs these days is just 4 chords..

:oops::thumbsu:

As a bloke from Frankston I fear for the future of the bogan listening to that Top 10. Gang of Youths the best of a bad bunch. Lorde? Thundermentals? WTF are you voting on?

Millenials can GAGF.

You're only young once - don't waste it listening to that shit.

I'm very melty. I had gang of youths on the money, then some 90 second piece of hipster shit won the ******* hipster award

My actual bets this year are Murder on the dance floor and Messy.
Never heard the songs all the way through but there's value in those I've heard.

The last few years I have aged out of pop music and triplej (plus I think they are in pretty big decline with youth audience anyways) and I rarely like or have the time for new music but Messy is a certified banger and would be my #1 vote. I fear it may have been released/blew up too late and many would have submitted votes leaving it out.

The heady days were the 90's and for Sydney Siders it probably would have been before that when it was JJ.
Least we have RRR and PBS here, magnificent stations with an array of different music genres!

Ive progressed from aged out, to whinging, to not even realising it was on yesterday. 2000-2012 we used to do kegs, sweeps, BBQs etc.. They need to do a Hottest 100 middle aged mens podcasts and YouTube channels
Gen Z are the worst m7. V_23 probably rocked* out with his 3 pubes out

*though I’m pretty sure nothing in that countdown even closely resembled rock :$

The only people that listen to Triple J are hipsters and bogans.
I'm sure that's how music is theses days obviously but i just prefer a guitar, bass and drum kit and some campaigner singing something original and catchy like the formula that worked from 1960-2010ish. I also enjoy frying tomato with my breakfast and tucking my polo shirts into my shorts now evidently
