Never had total faith in coaches votes as they may rewarding a player for playing a role, may be giving a player a clip by not giving votes, encouraging a junior or may give all/no votes to opposition depending on team performance or internal politics.I just think the AFLCA holds more and more weight, and stock in the Brownlow is fading. They rarely throw up some enormous howler of a result, but the leaderboard usually leaves plenty to be desired for one reason or another.
Also, does the coach actually award the votes?
I’m just not sure it is always about the best players, although on average they do well.
