Midfield's my main worry.

Thoughts?

Quite like this team. Backs are solid, Mids are one gun short. Rucks are good. Forwards are probably one gun short....Not keen on Morton, but i guess you'd know better than me. Lynch?
I have 23 of these 33.

Looks pretty good. I'd only suggest trying to bring in one more gun in the forwards. So maybe start another rookie in the forwards by downgrading Petrie/Knights to Cam Richardson and upgrading the other one?

Richo proved today that he could potentially score just as well as any mid-pricer (combined score of 101). Also got the Mzungu-Smith link for added insurance if you need another high scoring fwd rookie (and Callinan).

Reserve rookies look fine, other than Richardson, you aren't missing anyone obvious. Maybe look at Josh Toy in the backs.

Cheers Benno.

- I had Toy and traded for Puopolo
- Richardson I gotta get on, how many games is he expected to play for the Kangas?
- Thinking of maybe switching Petrie to the ruck, replace Ryder and see what cash I've got for a gun fwd.
- Possible to maybe remove Atley, switch Callinan to middle and put in Richardson?

- Puopolo is fine but Toy is the safer bet to get regular games.
- Based on today, Richo should play every game when fit. Will take Pratt's spot in the team.
- Unless you see Petrie as a keeper, all you're doing there is switching your ruck keeper to a forward keeper. Ryder is a ruck keeper while Petrie is a bit 'iffy'. Doing what I suggest enables you to add another forward keeper at the expense of a mid-pricer so that strengthens your team more. Also I'm fearing Petrie may be suspended for a hit on Milburn so keep an eye out for that.
- Atley really struggled in both games today although I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Changes

Swapped Hibberd for Atley (more a versatility thing that a cash cow)
Toy for Puopolo
Richardson for Knights
And there's a blank in the forward line after upgrading Petrie for someone undecided... spare cash at $337,300 (which is probably $43,000 short of picking a set keeper).

Who to go for? Higgins going to pull his finger out this year (just above the spare cash but i might make alterations to get him in)? Greater role for Varcoe maybe? Murphy capable of getting back above a 90 average for a season?

Not sure about Sylvia, but i say that every year. And every year he struggles to play 22 games. Krakouer im not certain is a walk up 22 in the Collingwood team. For a team that just won the premiership, who does he replace? I like your forward line. Keep an eye out for what Worsfold says about LeCras. He is comtemplating playing him more permanently in the midfield, but he could well stay in the forward line.

Otherwise, pretty solid. Im assuming youve gone round by round to check the byes.

Brown (knee reco)
Goldsack (glandular fever)

Tarrant and Krakouer are the frontfrunners for these spots.

Personally I think you're taking the mid-fwd dual position thing too far. I don't think you need Sylvia, Krak & Mzungu all in the mids. The best players are in the mids and I don't think you should waste spots away with players you can get as forwards. I could be wrong but 3 is too many IMO

True... taking a bit of a punt on Sylvia, but he's my 'a little bit different' pick.

Krakoeur looks like he should get a spot in the 22, and if not, only has to be in for Round 1, and then someone like Conca or Swallow can come off my bench to replace him as they should play 22.

Yep, checked out the byes, team holds up well against them.

Gor - didn't do it intentionally, and I think Mzungu is a Mid/Back anyway.

Interesting thought though, might switch some into the forward line. If for instance I move Sylvia, who would you suggest I bring into my midfield, and drop from my forward line?

EDIT: Ok moved Sylvia forward for McKernan, then traded Sylvia for Higgins, for some reason think Higgins will get over his injuries this year. Put Polec into the midfield to replace him.

FWDS: Chapman, Didak, Gilbert, Zaharakis, Petrie, Kraka, Matera (Prestia, Callinan, C Richardson)

$72,500 left, however with no longer having a DPP link into my rucks for Petrie, am thinking he might not be worth it?

Opinions on trading him out for one of either:
Chris Yarran
Jack Watts
David Astbury
Ryan Gamlbe

With news of Petries 1 match suspension, im now even more concerned over his spot!
Would be happy to risk a trade and run another player in his spot for 3/4 weeks and see if hes up to the job. If not ill trade petrie back in before his price rises.

Also add C Knights to that list as a possible replacement, opinions?

Pretty solid for mine Hodginator, I love Astbury as a selection.

Im not sold on Atley, I had him in my team and, I know its only NAB Cup, but he totally looked like a lost puppy!
Urquhart is an interesting one, cant say Id go that way but thats possibly a good thing!

Thanks mate. Atley I'm still not too sure about either. Could easily drop out before the season starts. Urquahart is a new addition after the weekend scoring 78 over the two games. Potential to reach 90s with that effort in a real game. Going to have to keep an ear out for these blokes to see how their going now that they are out of the NAB cup. Smith may also be dropped. Plenty of options to replace him and Atley if required.

Cuzz is back: Seems alright, maybe drop Kerr-not much chance of a full season, plus $100k more then the likes of Wallis and Atley, then you can upgrade Van Berlo to someone such as Boak or Griffen, both set for 100+ averages thos year imo. Forwards I like, although maybe 1 or 2 many players who will be upgraded. Swan and Pendlebury? Pies 2nd bye is after rnd 10 I think, so maybe get Selwood/Bartel in the meantime for Swan...just a few thoughts

Hodginator: I'm not too sure on Atley either, and now North are out of the Nab Cup, not a heap of opportunities to see him. But with our injuries (few mids) should be in the mix for rnds 1-4, and if he shows promise then, could continue in the side for a while.

JBrooker03: Yarrans your man imo. If he plays Gibbs role, his pace and skill could easily net him an average of 85+ imo. I'm currently looking too see how I can fit him into my team.

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Duffield, Grimes, Reid, Otten (Toy, Duigan, Puopolo)

M: Thomas, Boak, Griffen, Kennedy, Mzungu, Wallis (Swallow, Heppell, Atley)

R: Sandilands, Cox (Petrie, Smith)

F: Chapman, N.Riewoldt, Franklin, M.Morton, Yarran, Hale, Krakouer (Prestia, Richardson, Callinan)

My mids are a bit risky, but I think the 4 (Thomas, Griffen, Boak, Kennedy) will average over 100 each this season, and if I pick up Hodge/Murphy/Judd/Swan/Pendlebury or Boyd to go with them, that would be a pretty potent midfield that would be fairly unique. Of course it's risky and probably not smart, but to me, it's the type of midfield that could help win a weekly.

Midfield will be my first upgrades.
Then forwards (hoping a straight swap from Yarran to premium forward who has fallen in value) (Also, Hale and Petrie are planned to be 3rd rucks and 8th forwards)
Then defence last, as I think Toy/Otten will be more then handy 6/7th defenders.

Looking at 7 planned changes-upgrades, and then that leaves me 6 or 7 for injuries as I will probably waste a few.

Am really keen for some thoughts. Thanks.

Ive tweaked my team again:
B: Goddard Gibbs Gilbee Adcock Maxwell Astbury Otten
(Toy Puopolo Heppell)
C: Swan Chapman Mitchell Priddis Harris Swallow
(Polec Wallis Mzungu)
R: Sandilands Ryder
(Cordy Z.Smith)
F: Pavlich Franklin Higgins LeCras Sylvia Dennis-Lane Richardson
(McKernan Lamb Callinan)
