Seems as if i've been skipped over...
Thoughts on this team?

Backs- Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Boroughton, Adcock, Otten, Heppell (Jacobs, Toy, Duigan)

Midfield- Swan, Boyd, Bartel, Murphy, Swallow, Gaff
(Harris, Mzungu, Wallis)

Rucks- Sandilands, Petrie
(Smith, Campbell)

Forwards- Franklin, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Brown, Morton, Knights, Krakoeur
(Richardson, Howe, Callinan)

Its similar to most teams so looks ok but I would always have a good young dual possie player who is dual back/ mid or forward/mid playing forward or back rather than in the midfield. In other words pick Mzungu in the forward line. There will be a stack of top value rookies mids to pick from(there always is) but the rookie forwards and mids are harder to find and can often be the difference at the end of the year.

Isn't Broughton injured / had an injury interrupted pre-season? If so, I'd be worried having him and Adcock in the same side. Mids and rucks are solid as are forwards, except for Morton. But he is a unique pick and if he comes good you will do really well from him as he can rack it up. Same with Knights.

Broughton isn't injured?
Should be a good pickup, will get more midfield time and is entering his third year in the AFL system.

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Bradley, Greenwood, Hurley, Wilson (Hibberd, Talia, Smedts)
Mids: Didak, Goodes, Scotland, Pavlich, Krakouer, Heppell (Prestia, Jacobs, Callinan)
Rucks: K Tippett, Trengove (Hale, J Tippett)
Fwds: Chapman, Sylvia, O'Keefe, Higgins, Zaharakis, Petrie, Astbury (McKernan, Mzungu, I Smith)

DPP gone crazy. Should have the byes covered :D

^^ DPP definitely gone crazy! I said this to someone else who was only using 3 mids as DPPs, so it'll have more meaning to you: the top scoring players are the mids. Every position filled by a DPP in the mids (mainly the on-field ones) is costing you a high scoring player. Go for it if you like but IMO you're missing out on too many good players

Just for something different, slammed together a bit of a mid price team, just to see how it would turn out.
I think it should score good enough early on to get me by, and each player Iv selected should make atleast 80-150K, obviously more for the rookies and discounts.

Havnt looked closely enough to see how itll hanlde byes / injuries or anythiong, and I wont be saving the team, just thought id put it out there before getting rid of it!

BACKS:
J Grimes, M Hurley, C Cornes, E Wood, D Astbury, A Otten, D Heppel (D Stanley, N Duigan, P Poupolo)
MIDS:
S Higgins, S Sidebottom, T Scully, T Cotchin, D Swallow, D Harris (T Mzungu, P Contin, I Smith)
RUCKS:
J Fraser, D Petrie (Z Smith, T Derickx)
FWDS:
M Morton, J Grant, D Zaharakis, N Fyfe, C Yarran, R Gamble, C Knights (A Krakouer, C Richardson, B Matera)

1.75Mill left! Thoughts?

B: Gibbs - Deledio - Broughton - Grimes - Laidler - Otten - Puopolo;
Heppell, Stanley, Toy
M: Swan - Chapman - Goddard - Murphy - Sylvia - McLean;
Swallow, Bennell, Harris
R: Sandilands - Cox;
Petrie, Smith
F: Riewoldt - Rioli - Porplyzia - Knights - Gamble - Richardson - Mzungu;
Krakouer, Matera, Callinan

After round 1,
Chapman and Sylvia swap with Krakouer and Callinan
Goddard swaps with Heppell
All 3 of Swallow, Bennell and Harris move onto field in midfield unless other rookies on bench have torn up round 1.

Nice team, think everyone decent will go with a similar structure, few unique picks and from what it looks like, the rookies are all good, interesting though picking Mzungu in the midfield and Smith in forward line, i'd be looking to swap them so Mzungu can be your 7th forward.

Seems like you have good dreamteam knowledge, so no need to ask for opinions on your team :thumbsu::p

I'm behind the 8 ball a bit this year so I thought I might throw up my team for discussion.

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Gilbert, Deliedo, Heppell, Coad, Toy - Batchelor, Duigan, Puopolo

Mids: Swan, J.Selwood, Pendlebury, Bartel, D.Swallow, H.Bennell - Wallis, Mzungu, Harris

Rucks: Sandilands, Cox - Z.Smith, Derickx

Fwds: Chapman, Didak, Sylvia, N.Riewoldt, Higgins, A.Krakouer, Prestia - Richardson, Matera, Callinan

Nothing wrong with that, very solid, though there are issues

3 Gold Coast midfielder could come back to bite you in the ass, but you could benefit from it, and also having two Geelong guns, could hurt you in the long run for your league when Geelong have byes, though both aren't massive issues and can be tamed with a good bench.

With Batchelor, if you've found a gem then i'd be keeping it on the low on Bigfooty, about 25 teams on Bigfooty will have him after reading your side.

Major down point is that backline is too weak, way too weak for that matter, look at downgrading a forward or even a ruckmen to get a quality 5th defender in there and Andy Otten.

Hope i've been a help champ :thumbsu:

1.75Mill left! Thoughts?

I think the mid-price stategy could work if used a bit more sparsely than what you've got there. I think that forward line and the rucks actually have a lot of potential but the backs and mids you may as well go premium. If you upgrade Sidebottom, Scully, Cotchin, Hurley, Cornes, Wood, Astbury and maybe also Fyfe that gives you 8 guns, 11 mid-pricers and 3 rookies on the field.

I like this side better than any which I have clicked save on yet..so thoughts?

backs: goddard, gibbs, deledio, grimes, adcock, otten, duigan (toy, puopolo, batchelor)

Mids: Swan, Boyd, Motag, Bartel, Heppel, Mzungu (Harris, Weller, Lock)

Rucks: Cox, Petrie (Smith, Bailey)

Forwards: Franklin, Sylvia, Johnson, Riewoldt, Higgins, Zaharakis, Karkouer (Richardson, Matera, Callinan)

thoughts? thanks.

Highlights are those which I feel will be keepers.

Yeh, its interesting, there seems be alot of talk this year about an "in between" strategy. Guns, mids and rookies making up a nicely balanced team.

My actual side, which is a page or two back minus a few recent changes, is much more of a guns and rookies style, alot safer with just one or two risks.

Def: B.Goddard, B.Waters, M.Macguire, A.McPhee, M.Hurley, R.Ladson, M.Jamison (D.Heppell, J.Toy, P.Puopolo)

Mid: D.Swan, M.Priddis, L.Ball, M.Pavlich, D.Martin, D.Swallow (B.Sheppard, S.Savage, T.Mzungu)

Rucks: D.Cox, M.Jamar (M.Blake, Z.Smith)

Fwds: N.Reiwoldt, M.LeCras, T.Hawkins, D.Zaharakis, J.Hill, K.Tippet, A.Krakouer (T.Ruffles, C.Richardson, B.Matera)

Any Suggestions?

95% of the posters on this board would have a more informed opinion than mine but, for what it's worth, I'd get rid of Maguire, McPhee, Jamison, Hurley (my opinion: he'll be a low DT scorer) and Hawkins.

Switch D.Swallow for A.Swallow... or at least have A.Swallow in the team

Heppell should be on the field.

Unsure about having Blake, Ball and Ladson. Too risky.

Backs: B.Goddard, B.Gibbs, B.Deledio, J.Grimes, G.Birchall, A.Otten, D.Heppell (D.Stanley, P.Faulks, P.Puopolo)

Mids: D.Swan, M.Boyd, J.Bartel, L.Anthony, D.Swallow, A.Gaff (J.Polec, S.Atley, D.Harris)

Rucks: A. Sandilands, D.Jolly (M.Bailey, R.Campbell)

Forwards: P.Chapman, N.Riewoldt, R.O'Keefe, S.Higgins, M.Duncan, A. Krakeour, Mzungu (B.Matera, I.Smith, C.Richardson)

Not 100% sold on it.

My thinking includes - Whether Birchall represents good value at $321,000.
- Whether Gaff in my Midfield is smart, or going for a more mature player in the midfield.
- Mitch Duncan at $272,000 being worthwhile.

Any thoughts and comments appreciated.

Forwards- Franklin, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Brown, Higgins, Knights, Krakoeur

Team B IMO is better although, I don't know if I'd take Brown in this year. I think Brisbane are going to struggle and his output will be a lot less. Plus his pre-season hasn't been great.

Also, not sold on Callinan. He could be alright as your bottom priced forward on your bench but I just don't see him playing a lot of roles.

Still, good teams though :thumbsu:

i really like this team. One problem i see however is that i think either Selwood or Bartel will get the hard tag this year with Ablett gone from the Geelong midfield. I'd downgrade one of them to a mid-price midfielder and upgrade one of your backs. Would also mean one less gold coast defender.

my round 1 team. wanted to gather some thoughts/advice on my team:

backs: goddard gibbs rawlings carrazzo dempsey hurley otten, heppell stanley toy

mids: swan (c) bartel hodge foley polec conca, swallow harris iles

rucks: sandilands clark, smith campbell

forwards: chapman pavlich higgins zaharakis tippett dennis-lane richardson, prestia matera callinan

Everyone seems to have gone off Levi Greenwood in the BL..?

^^^
NORTH* Melbourne’s Levi Greenwood will miss the start of the home and away season and may not play football until round five, ruled out with a "high-grade" ankle sprain.
