Fagan in the presser said “I thought it came out of our forward line too easy at times”.

Well we haven’t learnt from last year then. We add Gardiner to a forward pressure mix that is already suss defensively. Sure he offers a lead but he’s another that half backs will just run off. He’s not a great contested mark either so the chances of the ball coming to ground and them using a spare at ground level to rebound is high.

We also have got to stop using key forwards down the line at every opportunity. Need to start hitting up some high half forwards and let the big guys do their work closer to goal. Too many easily read aimless bombs under no pressure is causing turnovers in danger areas on the wing that are hard to defend.

Gotta say you Brisbane lions supporters are seriously amazing. Horrible loss and none of you are making any excuses. Giving credit to the victors, wow just blown away by your fantastic attitude.

BL are my second team so if we don’t win it, stick it up ‘em …. unless it’s us you are playing in the GF!

Good luck for the rest of the year, I’m praying for Coleman, guys a gun!

I’m sure West Caost and North players want to win the flag to so of course our player do to but this window is just about shut and tonight’s pea hearted effort underlines that.

When have we put in efforts like Blues did and fought back like that?
Prelim last year against.... wait for it .... against Carlton

We tend to do a lot of these long bombs inside 50 which is suspect when Daniher and Hipwood are awful contested players to begin with. It has worked well when Charlie and Linc are 'in the game' providing that defensive forward half pressure but last night they were off in that regard.

The leaders need to realise this and provide on field adjustments to maybe lower the eyes going inside 50. Neale, Zorko and Clug are the only players I can think of that can consistently lower their eyes inside 50 and pick out leading targets. All our other players just tend to bomb it long and high. Isn't going to work over 4 quarters if our smalls aren't harassing and tackling and being annoying to opposition defence. Charlie is lazy af when being smothered by his opponent. Needs to work harder.

I thought Gardiner in the first half was a positive for the forward line.

When it all slowed down he seemed a bit lost though. Maybe was still in the defender mindset and just wanted to get back and help his mates.

Defender mindset very different to forward.

Very hard to change habits at the best of times, and doing so in high pressure, tough times easy to regress.

I'd continue playing Gardiner as forward. Cause what do we do if ... well... I just can't say it.

Poor keidean.

Sad news, the girl who was hit in the bus accident in the CBD passed away. 18 years old. I was there moments after it happened - as were many fans walking the city.

Goes to show while we all love footy and invest so much passion into the sport, it is not the be all and end all. Life can be cut short in an instant and we owe it to ourselves, our loved ones and our fellow people to appreciate the time we have.

Footy can frustrate and make us angry, but let's all take a moment to appreciate that it is a fun part of life, but not life itself. ❤️

Can someone explain why we played Lyons tonight? Tunstill’s run and defensive game would have helped tonight once they got on top.
For the father son rule- his 100th game for the club last night 🤣

wtf was with the defending that led to the Harry McKay mark? Clear space for their number one contested marking player and a clear run at the ball in a 1v1 with the game on the line…diabolical. There should have been no space to move inside that 50.

I don't know why people are concerned about our flag chances . That was always unknowable.

All I'm worried about is beating Freo next week.

I wish Fages would stop producing stats in his pressers trying to make out it was an even normal game. Those 'journos' are so weak not bringing up the elephant in the room and asking some questions as to how we managed to clock off without sufficient effort.

The lead up to the goal was even worse

I'm more upset about Kiddy than losing a match that we were winning in a canter. First game fitness was a factor but losing Kiddy was an even bigger factor. He gives us so much drive and dare off half back.

Rayner still doesn't do enough for a player of his ability. Payne was ordinary but how he wasn't paid that mark when he went forward will be one of life's great mysteries. Charlie was bang average last night. Needs to be kicking goals 20/30m out and he missed 3 last night.

Game 1 in a long season but losing Kiddy is what upsets me more than anything about last night.

:100: As the parent two children around this age, I can't even think about how the family and friends must be feeling .

Absolute lowlight of Fagan’s presser - “I’ll have to talk to the players and ask them what happened.” Seriously? Given the list that he has had at his disposal and the advantages conferred by our home ground, Fagan is the worst performing coach in the AFL by a mile.
Finals 2019 - 2023 for no Premiership. The window will close eventually.

To be fair Fagan did say he'd ask the boys in the review about what happened in the third quarter.

Don't think it's a coaching thing. Bringing in Trent Cotchin after games like these will prove beneficial.

One would assume that hearing the Kiddy news at half time probably rocked them all a bit, so that could explain the flatness to start the third.

Having said that there were clear signs from Charlie’s miss in the second onwards, that we thought we’d done enough.

I thought it started in the second when because we had control of the game we just kept pumping it in indiscriminately thinking a goal will have to come out of it sooner or later then letting Carlton in for 2 quick ones . The momentum had shifted well before the 3rd. We spent a lot of tickets with some lazy footy . Then didn't put in enough or think our way through situations when the tide really turned.

Let's face it . It was poor coaching if the players were responding to instructions.

Granted the coaches aren't responsible for the sloppy set shots.

That's where Lester should be. Some on here pumping up his game but he plays on the oppositions worst forward, offers little offensively and last night didn't do nearly enough to help out our key backs playing on 2 of the best key forwards in the comp.

Oscar too messed up several attempts trying to help out the backs leading to multiple goals

How has your posting got even worse this year?

Someone just had to sit in the hole and cop the hit that led to that final McKay mark but no one was willing to put their body on the line.
